Location: South India
Client: A leading international school A leading international school in South India is looking to appoint an experienced Drama Teacher / Whole-School Teacher of Theatre Arts to develop students creativity, confidence, performance skills, and appreciation of theatre from Grades 1 to 10, while leading the school’s theatre productions and drama programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Drama and Theatre Arts to students from Grades 1 to 10.
- Deliver IGCSE Drama for Grades 9 and 10, supporting strong academic and artistic outcomes.
- Develop students’ skills in acting, voice, movement, directing, playwriting, and stagecraft.
- Design and deliver an engaging, vertically aligned, and interdisciplinary Drama curriculum.
- Collaborate with Music, Visual Arts, Design, Movement, and Language Arts teams.
- Direct and produce the school’s annual whole-school theatre production.
- Plan and lead a multi-school Drama Fest to promote collaboration and student talent.
- Explore the feasibility of introducing the IBDP Theatre programme and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentor students in their artistic and personal development.
- Mentor and support junior Drama faculty through collaborative planning and instructional coaching.
- Coordinate scripts, costumes,
teaching resources, technical requirements, and performance spaces.
- Build partnerships with arts organizations to enrich the school’s Theatre Arts programme.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Drama, or a related field (Master’s degree would be preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching Drama in an international or progressive school.
- Experience with the IGCSE Drama curriculum would be preferred but is not essential.
- Experience directing or producing student theatre productions would be an advantage.

- Solid understanding of theatre, dramatic structure, staging, and performance techniques.
- Proven ability to lead high-quality theatre productions with strong student participation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, inclusive, and student-focused approach to teaching and learning.
- Ability to connect theatre with literature and other Arts disciplines.
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, the IB Diploma Theatre programme.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and the wider school community.
