Position: Consultant Urologist
Department: Urology
Location: Naruvi Hospitals, Vellore

About the Role
Naruvi Hospitals is seeking a skilled and experienced Consultant Urologist to join our Urology Department. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, medical and surgical management of patients with a broad range of urological conditions. The consultant will work closely with nephrologists, oncologists, radiologists, anaesthesiologists, pathologists, physiotherapists, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of urological disorders in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and operative settings.
- Assess and treat conditions including:
- Urolithiasis and urinary tract stones
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia and lower urinary tract symptoms
- Urinary tract infections and recurrent urinary infections
- Haematuria and other urinary tract disorders
- Urological emergencies, including acute urinary retention, renal colic, and testicular emergencies
- Urethral strictures and other urinary tract obstruction
- Male infertility and selected male reproductive disorders
- Erectile dysfunction and other male sexual health conditions
- Urinary incontinence and voiding dysfunction
- Congenital and acquired urological conditions
- Urological malignancies, including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, and penile cancers
- Renal and bladder disorders requiring surgical intervention
- Perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic urological procedures.
- Undertake endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures as appropriate to the consultant's training and expertise.
- Provide perioperative evaluation, surgical planning, postoperative care, and follow-up of patients.
- Interpret relevant investigations, including ultrasound, CT, MRI, uroflowmetry, and other urological diagnostic studies.
- Participate in emergency urological services, on-call duties, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
- Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, expected outcomes, and potential complications.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and applicable medical standards.
Qualifications
- DNB/MCh/DrNB in Urology or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
- Fellowship or advanced training in minimally invasive urology, endourology, uro-oncology, reconstructive urology, or other relevant subspecialties will be an advantage.
Experience
Minimum: 1 year
Maximum: 5 years
- Experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of urological conditions is preferred.
- Experience in endourological procedures, urological emergencies, and common urological surgeries will be an advantage.
- Experience in minimally invasive urology, laparoscopy, or robotic-assisted urological procedures will be an advantage.
- Exposure to the management of urological malignancies and complex urological cases is desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Solid clinical and surgical expertise in the assessment and management of urological disorders.
- Proficiency in interpreting urological imaging and diagnostic investigations, particularly ultrasound, CT, and MRI.
- Competence in performing appropriate urological surgical and endoscopic procedures.
- Strong clinical decision-making, surgical judgement, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent patient counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage urological emergencies effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, ethical clinical practice, and continuous professional development.
Work Schedule
Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts
Working Hours: 9 hours per day
Working Days: 6 days per week
Additional Duties: Participation in emergency, operative, and on-call duties as per departmental roster.
Pay: ₹1,800,000.00 - ₹2,400,000.00 per month
