Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Steward with 10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business and technology teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, secure, and aligned with enterprise data governance standards. The role requires strong stakeholder management, data management expertise, and experience implementing data governance frameworks across large organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Stewardship

- Define, implement, and enforce enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Act as the owner and custodian of critical business data domains.
- Establish data stewardship processes and operating models across business functions.
- Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Custodians, and business stakeholders to improve data management practices.

Data Quality Management

- Monitor, measure, and improve data quality using predefined KPIs and metrics.
- Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation efforts.
- Define data quality rules, controls, and validation mechanisms.
- Implement continuous monitoring processes for critical data assets.

Metadata & Data Catalog Management

- Maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories.
- Ensure proper classification, lineage, and documentation of enterprise data assets.
- Promote adoption of data catalog platforms across business teams.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Support compliance initiatives related to GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure data privacy, security, and retention policies are followed.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of data governance processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration

- Partner with business users, data architects, data engineers, analytics teams, and leadership.
- Facilitate governance councils and working groups.
- Drive awareness and training programs related to data governance and stewardship.

Reporting & Analytics

- Develop governance dashboards and reports for executive stakeholders.
- Track governance maturity, data quality scores, and stewardship effectiveness.
- Present governance insights and recommendations to leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Master Data Management (MDM), or Data Stewardship.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK.
- Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality processes.
- Excellent business stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Data Governance Tools: Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon, Microsoft Purview
- Data Quality Tools: Informatica DQ, Ataccama, Talend DQ, IBM InfoSphere
