Role & responsibilities

- Read and analyses tooling and mechanical drawings to understand design requirements, materials, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
- Perform weight calculations for tooling and mechanical components based on drawing details and material specifications.
- Identify missing, unclear, or conflicting dimensional details in drawings and coordinate with the concerned engineering/design team for clarification.
- Prepare costing estimates for tooling, including material, machining, heat treatment, forging/casting, coating, and other relevant manufacturing processes.
- Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers regarding drawings, specifications, materials, dimensions, manufacturing feasibility, and inspection requirements.
- Address technical queries and requirements raised by plant/users and provide appropriate engineering support.
- Conduct API audits and has good knowledge of API standards, audit requirements, and its related documentation.
- Review and maintain relevant technical and quality documentation associated with tooling and purchased components.





Required Technical Knowledge The candidate should have valuable knowledge and practical understanding of the following components used in Seamless Pipe & Tube Mills: 1. Rolls

- SRM Rolls
- MPM Rolls
- Loosening Mill Rolls
- Conveyor Rolls
- Other mill/tooling rolls

2. Plugs

- Piercer Plugs
- Other plugs used in Seamless Pipe & Tube Mill operations

3. Shafts

- Universal Shaft
- Cardan Shaft
- Piercer Shaft
- Other mill shafts

4. Gears

- Various types of industrial/mill gears
- Gear drawings, materials, manufacturing requirements, and inspection parameters

5. Mandrels

- Understanding of mandrel construction, materials, dimensions, and application in seamless pipe production.

6. Spindles

- Knowledge of spindle assemblies, dimensions, materials, and operating requirements.

7. Casting & Forging Components

- Various casting and forging items used in Seamless Pipe Mills.
- Understanding of material grades, manufacturing processes, heat treatment, machining allowances, inspection, and quality requirements.

Preferred candidate profile Candidates with hands-on experience in tooling procurement, technical evaluation, supplier development, drawing review, costing, and maintenance/engineering support for Seamless Pipe & Tube Mills will be preferred.
