Senior Resident – Paediatric Cardiology

Designation: Senior Resident – Paediatric Cardiology
Reports to: Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist / Head of Department

Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart diseases.
Conduct detailed cardiovascular assessment, formulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
Manage common congenital heart diseases, cyanotic heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and paediatric cardiac emergencies.
Perform and interpret ECGs, chest X-rays and other basic cardiac investigations.
Assist in and perform echocardiography under appropriate supervision, including 2D, Doppler and colour Doppler studies.
Assist in transcatheter interventions such as device closures, balloon valvuloplasty and other catheter-based procedures, as applicable.




Participate in pre- and post-operative management of children undergoing congenital heart surgery.
Manage patients in the paediatric cardiac ICU and high-dependency areas.
Recognise and manage acute deterioration, cyanotic spells, arrhythmias and cardiac failure.
Participate in inpatient rounds, OPD services, emergency duties and on-call responsibilities.
Counsel parents/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis and follow-up.
Maintain accurate clinical records, procedure notes and discharge summaries.
Participate in academic activities, case discussions, teaching, audits and clinical research.
Supervise and guide junior residents and other clinical trainees.
