VMC Operator / Programmer

Job Location: Anjar, Kutch, Gujarat

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced VMC Operator / Programmer who can independently handle VMC machine setup, operation, and CNC programming for precision machining components.

The candidate should have solid knowledge of engineering drawings, CNC programming, tooling, machining parameters, tool offsets, work offsets, GD&T;, and component inspection. The person will be responsible for ensuring dimensional accuracy, machining quality, productivity, and safe operation of the VMC machine.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently set up, operate, and program VMC machines as per engineering drawings and production requirements.
- Prepare, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-codes and M-codes.
- Perform machine setup including job setting, datum setting, work offsets, tool offsets, and tool changes.
- Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, holders, fixtures, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, and machining parameters.
- Perform machining operations such as milling, drilling, boring, tapping, pocketing, profiling, facing, slotting, and contour machining.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T;, and machining specifications.
- Carry out first-piece inspection and ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier caliper, micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge, depth gauge, dial indicator, and other precision measuring instruments.




- Make necessary tool wear compensation and offset corrections during machining.
- Identify and correct issues related to tool wear, dimensional variation, surface finish, vibration, chatter, and machining accuracy.
- Perform program prove-out, dry run, and first component trial before starting batch production.
- Optimize machining cycles to improve cycle time, tool life, productivity, and component quality.
- Understand and apply proper work holding, clamping, jigs, and fixture setting techniques.
- Monitor machine condition, lubrication, coolant levels, tooling condition, and other operating parameters.
- Carry out basic VMC troubleshooting and preventive/routine maintenance.
- Minimize rejection, rework, tool damage, machine downtime, and material wastage.
- Follow all applicable quality, production, housekeeping, and safety procedures.

Programming & Technical Skills Candidate should preferably have hands-on knowledge of:
- VMC operation and CNC programming
- G-code and M-code programming
- Program editing and modification at machine control
- Tool offset and work offset setting
- Cutting tool selection
- Speed, feed, RPM, and depth-of-cut calculation/selection
- Engineering drawing interpretation
- GD&T; and dimensional tolerances
- Jigs and fixture setting
- Precision measuring instruments
- CNC program prove-out and dry run
- Machining problem troubleshooting
- Cycle-time optimization

Preference: Candidates having experience with commonly used CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or equivalent.
