Key Job Responsibilities

1. Fabrication Planning &
- Execution

- Plan, supervise, and control fabrication activities as per approved drawings, specifications, project schedule, and quality standards.

- Prepare fabrication plans, work schedules, manpower requirements, and equipment deployment plans.

- Ensure timely completion of fabrication works in line with project milestones.

1. Hydro Project Fabrication Works

- Supervise fabrication and assembly of hydro-mechanical and structural components such as embedded parts, steel liners, gates, supports, platforms, ladders, handrails, penstock components, and other steel structures.

- Coordinate fabrication activities for powerhouse, dam, intake, spillway, tunnel, surge shaft, and other project structures as applicable.

1. Drawing &
- Technical Coordination

- Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, BOMs, specifications, and material requirements.

- Coordinate with Engineering/Design teams for drawing clarifications, revisions, and technical issues.

- Ensure fabrication is carried out strictly as per approved drawings and applicable codes.

1. Material Management

- Plan and monitor requirements of plates, sections, pipes, welding consumables, bolts, electrodes, and other fabrication materials.

- Coordinate with Stores and Procurement teams for timely availability of materials.

- Control material utilization, wastage, scrap, and reconciliation.

1. Welding &
- Fabrication Quality

- Ensure welding and fabrication activities comply with approved WPS/PQR, ITP, and applicable standards.

- Coordinate welding inspections, NDT, dimensional checks, fit-up inspections,



and other quality-control activities.

- Ensure rectification of welding defects and fabrication deviations within the required timeframe.

1. Manpower &
- Equipment Management

- Manage supervisors, welders, fabricators, fitters, riggers, helpers, and subcontractor manpower.

- Optimize deployment of fabrication equipment, welding machines, cranes, cutting machines, compressors, and other tools.

- Monitor productivity and workforce performance.

1. Site Erection &
- Coordination

- Coordinate with erection, civil, mechanical, electrical, planning, and QA/QC teams for smooth execution.

- Ensure fabricated components are properly marked, inspected, transported, and handed over for erection.

- Support site erection teams in resolving fabrication-related issues.

1. Safety Compliance

- Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements during cutting, welding, grinding, lifting, and heavy fabrication activities.

- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure use of appropriate PPE and safe work practices.

- Identify and control fabrication-related hazards and unsafe conditions.

1. Progress Monitoring &
- Reporting

- Monitor daily and weekly fabrication progress against approved targets.

- Prepare progress reports, productivity reports, material consumption reports,



and manpower deployment reports.

- Highlight delays, constraints, and resource requirements to Project Management.

1. Subcontractor Management

- Supervise and monitor fabrication subcontractors and vendors.

- Verify work progress, quality, manpower, equipment deployment, and compliance with contractual requirements.

- Coordinate inspection and measurement of completed works for certification.

1. Inspection &
- Documentation

- Maintain fabrication records, inspection reports, welding records, NDT reports, material test certificates, and as-built documentation.

- Ensure traceability of materials and fabricated components.

- Support preparation of final handover and completion documentation.

1. Project Coordination

- Coordinate closely with Project Manager, Construction Manager, Mechanical/Structural teams, QA/QC, Planning, Procurement, Stores, and HSE departments.

- Participate in project review meetings and provide updates on fabrication progress, quality, safety, and resource requirements.

Key Competencies

- Solid knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, structural fabrication and hydro-mechanical works.

- Experience in Hydro Electric Projects / Dams / Powerhouses / Tunnels / Penstocks preferred.

- Knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding procedures, NDT, dimensional inspection, and material control.

- Strong manpower, subcontractor, planning, coordination, and site execution skills.

- Ability to work in remote project-site conditions and manage multiple fabrication activities simultaneously.
