Senior Project Manager Airport Systems / Baggage Handling Systems (BHS)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and PMP-certified Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex Airport Systems and Baggage Handling System (BHS) projects. The role will be responsible for end-to-end project management, including planning, engineering, procurement, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, stakeholder management, and final handover.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing large-scale airport projects involving Baggage Handling Systems, baggage screening, sortation, conveyors, EBS, HBS, PLC/SCADA, controls, airport IT/OT systems, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

- Lead end-to-end delivery of airport systems and BHS projects from project initiation through commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain the overall project execution plan, schedule, milestones, budgets, and resource plans.
- Establish project governance, reporting structures, KPIs, risk registers, and change-control processes.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule, quality, resources, procurement, and contractual obligations.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
- Apply PMI/PMP project management methodologies and industry best practices.

Airport & BHS Systems
- Provide project leadership for Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) including:
- Baggage conveyors and transportation systems

- Sortation systems

- Early Baggage Storage (EBS)

- Hold Baggage Screening (HBS)

- Explosive Detection Systems (EDS)
- Make-up and reclaim systems

- Baggage reconciliation and tracking
- Baggage security and screening interfaces
- PLC, SCADA, HMI and controls systems

- Baggage Information Systems (BIS)
- Airport Operational Database (AODB) and relevant airport-system interfaces
- Coordinate integration between BHS, airport IT/OT, security systems, screening equipment, airline systems, and other airport infrastructure.
- Review system architecture, interface requirements, functional specifications, design documentation, and integration plans.
- Coordinate engineering and technical teams to resolve design and implementation issues.

Project Execution & Delivery
- Manage multidisciplinary teams comprising project managers, engineers, automation/control specialists, IT/OT teams, installation teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, government agencies, consultants, system integrators, OEMs, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor construction, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), system integration testing,



operational trials, and final commissioning.
- Ensure project readiness for airport operational cutover and transition.
- Manage project interfaces and dependencies across civil, MEP, security, IT, OT, automation, and airport operational systems.

Stakeholder & Commercial Management
- Act as the primary project interface with clients, airport operators, consultants, partners, and senior stakeholders.
- Lead regular project progress meetings and steering-committee reviews.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, OEMs, and system integrators.
- Support contract administration, change requests, claims, variations, and commercial negotiations.
- Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and project escalations.

Risk, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain project risk, issue, action, and dependency registers.
- Develop and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
- Ensure compliance with applicable airport, aviation, safety, security, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Drive project quality assurance and quality-control activities.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, configuration management, testing records, and handover documentation are maintained.
- Promote a solid safety culture throughout project execution.

Reporting & Governance
- Prepare executive-level project reports covering schedule, cost, risks, issues, progress, quality, resources, and commercial status.
- Track project KPIs, critical-path activities, milestones, and deliverables.
- Provide accurate forecasts for project completion, cost, resources, and risks.
- Escalate critical issues and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
- Maintain complete project documentation and lessons learned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Automation, or a related discipline.
- PMP certification is mandatory/preferred.
- Typically 12+ years of overall project management experience, with significant experience in airport systems, BHS, automation, industrial systems, or complex infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale airport systems or Baggage Handling System projects.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management from design through commissioning and operational handover.

- Experience with brownfield airport upgrades and live-airport environments.
- Experience managing multi-vendor BHS and airport-system integration.
- Familiarity with international airport standards and applicable aviation/security requirements.
- Experience with projects involving 24x7 operational environments and phased cutovers.
- International project experience is an advantage.
