Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sourcing Engineer to join our operations in Chakan, Pune. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities for raw materials and components, optimize supplier performance, lead cost-reduction initiatives, and leverage ERP systems (SAP) to support seamless manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing Strategy & Execution: Support the development and execution of sourcing strategies aligned with operational and financial goals.
- Supplier Selection & Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and recommend suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service performance.
- Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve cost efficiency. Analyze price trends and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, value analysis, and alternative sourcing options.
- Supplier Management & Performance: Monitor supplier performance and coordinate corrective actions to continuously improve quality, delivery, and service levels.
- Procurement & Inventory Tracking: Assist in the procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies to meet production schedules while minimizing inventory levels. Coordinate with planning and production teams to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages.
- Risk Mitigation: Track market trends, identify opportunities to diversify the supply base, and assist in developing contingency sourcing plans for critical materials.
- ERP & Data Analytics: Utilize SAP to manage purchase orders, track supplier performance, and monitor inventory levels. Analyze ERP data to generate reports and make data-driven decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders across production, quality, and finance teams to ensure synchronized purchasing activities.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in purchasing and sourcing within the manufacturing industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Machine Shop and Assembly Shop processes.
- Software Skills: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, high ethical standards, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a quick-paced team environment.
