About the Role

Own the editing and finishing of Arthamandapam's video output client ad films, Reels and Shorts, YouTube long-form, podcasts, interviews, event highlight films and speaker content. Most of our videos are in Tamil, so the editor must understand the language deeply: dialogue rhythm, emotional beats, correct Tamil on-screen text and subtitles. This is a senior hands-on role with quality ownership and mentoring of junior editors.

Key Responsibilities

- Edit end-to-end from raw footage to final master: ingest, organise, sync, assemble, rough cut, fine cut, graphics, grade, mix and export.
- Cut for retention: strong first 3-second hooks, pacing, pattern interrupts, B-roll layering and CTA placement for Reels, Shorts and YouTube.
- Edit Tamil dialogue-driven content (interviews, podcasts, talks, testimonials) tighten speech, remove fillers and jump-cut cleanly without breaking meaning or emotion.
- Create and edit Tamil on-screen text, lower-thirds, kinetic typography and subtitles with correct spelling, Unicode Tamil fonts and accurate timing (SRT and burnt-in).
- Colour correct and grade footage to a consistent brand look, including skin tones and mixed-camera matching (DaVinci Resolve preferred).
- Clean and mix audio: noise reduction, EQ, compression, loudness normalisation (e.g. -14 LUFS for YouTube/social), music and SFX design.
- Build motion graphics — logo animations, titles, transitions, templates and info-graphics — in After Effects.
- Multicam editing for podcasts, panel discussions and event coverage.
- Deliver multiple formats and aspect ratios (16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5) with correct codecs, bitrates and platform specs; create thumbnails when needed.
- Maintain project organisation, file naming,



proxy workflows, backups and archive discipline.
- Review junior editors' work, standardise templates and presets, and hold the output quality line under tight deadlines.
- Work with the Creative Head, Social Media Manager and scriptwriters to translate briefs into finished edits.

Required Technical Skills & Mandatory Experience

- Minimum 5 years of professional video editing, with agency, production house, TV/news or digital media experience.
- Pro-level Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro — fast, keyboard-driven, multicam, nested sequences, proxies.
- DaVinci Resolve for colour correction and grading (nodes, scopes, LUTs, shot matching).
- Adobe After Effects for motion graphics, text animation and compositing (keyframing, graph editor, masks, tracking).
- Audio post-production using Adobe Audition, Resolve Fairlight or equivalent — noise reduction, mixing, loudness standards.
- Fluent Tamil comprehension — must be able to edit Tamil dialogue for meaning and emotion, and produce error-free Tamil text, titles and subtitles using Unicode Tamil fonts.
- Solid understanding of short-form and YouTube storytelling: hooks, pacing, retention and platform-specific export specs.
- Photoshop for thumbnails, graphics and asset preparation.
- Show-reel is mandatory, including Tamil-language edits (Reels, YouTube, interviews or ads).

Preferred / Good to Have

- TV news, OTT, film or Tamil digital media channel background.
- Experience editing podcasts, speaker/talk content and event highlight films.
- Camera and shoot knowledge (framing, lighting, audio capture) to guide on-set production.
- AI-assisted editing workflows (auto-captions, Premiere Enhance Speech, Runway, Descript, CapCut Pro, AI voice/visual tools).
