Senior Software Engineer (SSE)

Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong focus on frontend design systems to help build and scale the design infrastructure behind our products. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and design — you'll architect and maintain component libraries, drive theming and CSS conventions, and ensure consistency across every product surface, primarily using React and TypeScript.

You'll work closely with product designers to translate design tokens into reusable, accessible components, and with frontend teams to drive adoption of the system you build.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries
- Work hands-on with component libraries and theming frameworks such as shadcn/ui
- Own the distribution and versioning of shared component libraries across multiple products/teams
- Establish and enforce theming, styling, and CSS architecture conventions
- Collaborate closely with product designers to translate design tokens and specs into reusable, accessible components
- Partner with frontend teams to drive adoption of the design system and reduce UI inconsistency
- Document components, usage guidelines, and best practices for consuming teams
- Continuously evaluate and evolve the design system's architecture as the product suite grows
- Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
- Manage codebase dependencies and framework upgrades
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs,



and devise solutions to these problems
- Help maintain code quality, organization and automation
- Write unit, integration and regression tests
- Ensure delivered code is in compliance with specifications and requirements
- Attend and participate in all sprint rituals and communicate effectively with a distributed team using tools like Zoom, Slack and JIRA

What We're Looking For

- 7–10 years of professional frontend engineering experience
- Required: React, TypeScript, CSS, shadcn/ui (or similar component libraries), Git, Cloud experience (preferably AWS)
- BSc/BE/BTech in Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
- Strong, demonstrated experience building and maintaining design systems
- Deep component library design experience — architecture, composability, and reusability
- Strong CSS fluency, including theming, design tokens, and responsive/adaptive styling
- Hands-on experience with component library distribution and versioning (e.g., npm packages, monorepo tooling)
- Practical experience working with libraries like shadcn/ui and similar theming-driven component systems
- Solid eye for detail and consistency across UI, with close collaboration between engineering and design
- Excellent communication skills and experience driving adoption of shared tooling across teams

Nice to Have

- Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation/testing tools
- Familiarity with design tooling such as Figma, including design-token pipelines
- Experience with monorepo tooling (Turborepo, Nx) for managing shared packages
- Familiarity with accessibility (WCAG) standards as applied to component libraries
