Role and Responsibilities:

As the team member for SaveLIFE Foundation's Legal Policy work, the Senior Associate - Legal and Policy will make sure our public policy initiatives continue to grow in alignment with organisational priorities and should demonstrate commitment to the organisation’s mission. This entails:

I. Legal Development, Policy Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement:

- Actively lead the research and drafting of legal notes on policy matters in alignment with the organisation's position.
- Strategise and implement comprehensive advocacy strategies including legal strategies that combine top-down and bottom-up tactics, coalition building, and targeted engagement with policymakers.
- Advocate for policy change and implementation at national, sub-national and district levels that advance India’s mission of reducing road crash deaths by half by 2030.
- Lead the legal initiatives of the organisation, providing thought leadership in shaping the course of legal action including drafting of petitions and court submissions.
- Nurture existing and build recent relationships with government officials, subject experts, legal fraternity and other stakeholders on policy initiatives.
- Support the leadership team in representing the organisation's policy positions in meetings, conferences, and public forums.

II. Research, Analysis & Communication:

- Conduct and manage the team to conduct in-depth research to produce policy briefs and other position papers on critical issues including detailed legal notes.
- Analyse data to inform evidence-based policy recommendations as well as lead the team in creating strong narratives stitched with data.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local, state, and national levels that could impact the organisation's work.
- Assist in grant writing and fundraising by providing policy-related information and narratives to support funding proposals.

Professional Experience

- Proficiency in professional writing, thorough research,



meticulous editing, and impactful communication for developing compelling policy positions and enabling the synthesis of insights to formulate informed policy recommendations.
- Minimum five years of experience with an academic degree of LLB/B.A.LLB and demonstrated ability to execute legal or policy research.
- Displays proven influencing and networking skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiently manages multiple tasks while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Exposure to working with the Supreme Court of India or a State High Court.
- Experience in drafting legal petitions, including public interest litigations.
