Job Purpose To manage and support New Product Development (NPD) quality activities from drawing and part study through trial, inspection, process validation and final approval.

The candidate will be responsible for understanding automotive component structure, dimensional requirements, fitment, functionality, manufacturing processes and quality requirements, ensuring that newly developed products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.

### 3. Key Responsibilities

#### A. New Product Development Quality

* Study customer 2D drawings, 3D models, specifications and quality requirements.

* Understand complete part structure, critical features, dimensions, tolerances and functional requirements.

* Identify critical-to-quality (CTQ) and critical-to-process (CTP) characteristics.

* Conduct quality analysis during different stages of New Product Development.

* Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Engineering and Quality teams during product development.

* Prepare and maintain NPD quality documents and records.

* Support prototype, sample, trial and pre-production activities.

* Monitor development against customer specifications and timelines.

* Identify potential quality risks during product development and recommend corrective actions.

#### B. Part Understanding & Fitment

* Develop strong understanding of automotive component construction and part functionality.

* Understand how the component fits with mating/assembly parts.

* Perform fitment observations during trials and development.

* Understand functional requirements of the component in the vehicle/assembly.

* Identify dimensional or manufacturing issues that can affect assembly or functionality.

* Coordinate with relevant departments for resolution of fitment and functional issues.

#### C. Quality Inspection & Measurement

Candidate should have practical knowledge of inspection and measurement instruments, including:





* Vernier Caliper

* Micrometer

* Height Gauge

* Depth Gauge

* Bore Gauge

* Gauges / Checking Fixtures

* Basic measuring and inspection equipment

Responsibilities include:

* Perform dimensional inspection of new/development parts.

* Verify critical dimensions against drawings.

* Understand GD&T; and dimensional tolerances.

* Prepare inspection reports and dimensional reports.

* Ensure measurement methods are appropriate for the required characteristics.

* Identify dimensional deviations and communicate them effectively.

#### D. In-Process Quality Knowledge

* Understand the complete manufacturing process flow of automotive components.

* Monitor quality at different stages of production.

* Understand process-related defects and their causes.

* Conduct in-process inspection and verification.

* Support development of Process Flow, Control Plan, Inspection Standards and Work Instructions.

* Identify process parameters that can affect product quality.

* Work with Production and Process Engineering teams to control recurring defects.

#### E. Problem Solving & Quality Improvement

* Analyse internal and customer quality issues.

* Participate in Root Cause Analysis.

* Support corrective and preventive actions.

* Use basic quality tools such as:

* 5 Why

* Fishbone Analysis

* Pareto Analysis

* 8D

* PDCA

* Basic SPC

* Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.

* Support continuous improvement activities during NPD and production.

#### F. Documentation & Customer Requirements





* Maintain NPD quality records and inspection reports.

* Support preparation of PPAP documentation.

* Understand basic APQP requirements.

* Maintain traceability of development samples and inspection results.

* Ensure customer-specific requirements are considered during development.

* Support customer communication related to development quality issues when required.

### 4. Technical Competencies The candidate should have:

* Strong knowledge of Automotive Quality.

* Understanding of New Product Development processes.

* Good understanding of automotive part structure and functionality.

* Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings.

* Basic understanding of 3D models/CAD drawings.

* Knowledge of GD&T; and tolerances.

* Practical knowledge of measuring instruments.

* Understanding of fitment and functional inspection.

* Understanding of in-process quality control.

* Knowledge of defect identification and root cause analysis.

* Basic knowledge of APQP / PPAP / Control Plan / PFMEA.

* Ability to analyse dimensional and quality data.

* Good MS Excel and documentation skills.

Role & responsibilities

Preferred candidate profile The ideal candidate should be an *engineering graduate with automotive industry exposure, having strong practical knowledge of **part structure, drawing interpretation, dimensional inspection, fitment, functionality and manufacturing processes*.

The candidate must be able to look at a component, understand how it is manufactured, understand how it fits and functions, identify potential quality risks, measure critical characteristics and communicate the issue clearly to the concerned team.

Solid IQ + analytical thinking + observation skills + communication skills + automotive quality knowledge are key requirements for this position.
