Project Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities (Wastewater Treatment Industry)

1. Project Planning & Coordination

· Plan, schedule, and coordinate all phases of wastewater treatment projects — from design to commissioning.

· Review project specifications, technical drawings, and tender documents to ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

· Prepare detailed project execution plans, timelines (Gantt charts), and resource allocation schedules.

· Coordinate with design, procurement, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for project execution.

2. Design & Technical Support

· Provide technical inputs for process, mechanical, and civil design of STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), and WTP (Water Treatment Plant) systems.

· Review and verify P&IDs;, GA drawings, and layout plans for treatment units.

· Assist in selecting appropriate treatment technologies (e.g., MBBR, SBR, MBR, RO, UF, etc.) based on site and effluent parameters.

· Ensure design adheres to pollution control board norms and local environmental standards.

3. Procurement & Vendor Management

· Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and technical specifications for equipment and materials.

· Coordinate with procurement for vendor evaluation, technical bid analysis, and supplier finalization.

· Inspect and ensure timely delivery of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation components.

4. Site Execution & Supervision

· Supervise in office installation, fabrication, erection, and commissioning of wastewater treatment equipment.





· Ensure safety protocols and quality standards are followed at all times.

· Monitor project progress and resolve technical or logistical issues at site.

· Conduct site inspections and quality checks in accordance with project specifications.

5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

· Oversee system testing, performance trials, and commissioning of treatment plants.

· Prepare O&M; (Operation & Maintenance) manuals and train client personnel.

· Ensure project documentation, as-built drawings, and performance reports are completed before handover.

6. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

· Prepare project status updates, MIS reports, and client presentations.

· Coordinate with consultants, clients, and internal departments for smooth communication flow.

7. Compliance & Quality Assurance

· Ensure adherence to ISO, safety, and environmental management systems.

· Support in obtaining required statutory approvals (PCB, local authority, etc.).

· Conduct internal audits and participate in quality control processes.

8. Client & Stakeholder Management

· Act as a single point of contact for clients during project execution.

· Attend client meetings, clarify technical queries, and ensure satisfaction with deliverables.

· Handle change orders, cost variation approvals, and project closure documentation.

Pay: ₹239,837.93 - ₹800,772.46 per year
