The Commercial team sits at the heart of Officeworks’ growth agenda. This function brings together customer needs, product innovation, services, supplier partnerships, merchandise planning, and channel growth to shape what Officeworks sells, how it competes, and the value it delivers across Retail, B2B, Government, and Education. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the business’s most commercially impactful areas.
The team plays a key role in evolving Officeworks’ product and service offering, accelerating growth in high-potential channels (such as B2B and Education), expanding private label and exclusive ranges, strengthening supplier partnerships, and unlocking emerging category opportunities across areas like technology, gaming, mobility, VR, print, installation, telco, and managed services.
You will help build commercial capability from the ground up, shaping scalable ways of working, strengthening planning and decision-making, and driving outcomes that impact sales, margin, customer experience, inventory performance, and long-term growth.

Why this role exists:
The Pricing and Supplier Performance Manager exists to improve customer value perception and profitability by leading integrated retail and B2B pricing and strengthening supplier cost and trading-term outcomes. The role establishes the strategies,
guardrails and decision frameworks that balance customer value, competitive positioning, sales growth, gross margin and compliance across consumer and business channels.
The role leads the people, platforms and analytical capability required to translate pricing and Better Buying (supplier performance) strategies into controlled execution. It equips commercial and B2B teams with the insights, tools and challenge needed to make sound decisions, while improving automation, pricing accuracy and service delivery.
Where you will make a difference:
Pricing Strategy and Governance
- Lead the development and execution of retail and B2B pricing strategies that support customer price perception, sales, gross margin and profitability targets.
- Establish pricing principles, decision rights and margin guardrails across everyday, promotional, markdown and B2B contract pricing.
- Govern the use of customer, competitor and market insights to inform pricing decisions across merchandise categories and customer segments.
- Oversee competitive price positioning, including exposure under the Price Beat Guarantee.
- Set priorities and controls for price changes across stores, digital channels and B2B systems, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
- Maintain pricing governance and controls that support compliance with Trade Practices laws and regulations.
B2B Pricing and Service Delivery:
- Lead the B2B pricing function through the Business Pricing Lead, overseeing contract pricing, tender support, customized quotations and customer price maintenance.
- Establish B2B pricing rules, margin floors, approval delegations and exception pathways across corporate, education and government customers.
- Partner with B2B Sales, Category Management and Finance on tenders, contract renewals and material pricing exceptions.
- Govern the performance of the Business Pricing team, including service levels, output quality, pricing accuracy and issue resolution.
- Analyze customer and contract profitability to identify margin leakage, cost recovery requirements and pricing improvement opportunities.
- Support product substitution and alternative offer strategies that protect customer value while improving contract margin.
Better Buying Capability and Supplier Terms:
- Develop the frameworks, tools and insights that enable Category teams to improve supplier negotiations, trading terms and cost-price outcomes.
- Establish consistent approaches for evaluating cost-price increase requests, supplier should-cost analysis, rebates and trading-term opportunities.
- Build negotiation playbooks, scenario models and decision-support tools for use during supplier reviews.
- Implement exception reporting and variance thresholds that identify cost recovery, rebate and margin improvement opportunities.
- Coach and challenge Category teams during material supplier negotiations and cost-price increase reviews.
- Measure and report the financial value delivered through cost mitigation, trading-term improvement and better buying initiatives.
Pricing Platforms and Automation:
- Own the business roadmap for pricing engines, SAP pricing workflows and B2B contract pricing solutions.
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to define requirements and deliver competitor intelligence, predictive pricing, ticketing and workflow automation capabilities.
- Simplify price file processing, exception management, contract maintenance and data-quality controls across retail and B2B channels.
- Establish appropriate testing,
reconciliation and change controls for pricing system and process changes.
- Increase the proportion of pricing activity managed through automated, exception-based workflows, releasing capacity for higher-value analysis and decision support.
- Monitor platform performance, data integrity and user adoption, escalating material risks and control failures.
Functional Leadership and Resource Management:
- Lead, coach and develop people leaders, analysts and specialist teams across onshore and offshore locations.
- Set functional priorities and deploy capacity across core pricing activity, major retail events, supplier negotiations and complex B2B tenders.
- Establish clear service levels, quality controls and performance measures across retail price changes, customer quotations and contract maintenance.
- Build commercial, analytical and technical capability across the function, including pricing, B2B economics, supplier negotiation and automation.
- Influence senior commercial leaders on pricing, margin and supplier-term decisions, constructively challenging proposals that create material financial, customer or compliance risk.
- Create an inclusive, accountable team culture focused on commercial outcomes, disciplined execution and continuous improvement.

- Gross Margin Optimization: Quantifiable gross margin and net profit improvement achieved across B2C retail channels and B2B contract accounts.
- Commercial Value Realization: High mitigation rate of supplier cost-price increases, target trading-terms value delivered, and successful B2B tender win rates.
- Operational Delivery and Accuracy: SLA compliance and accuracy rates for price change transmissions, in-store shelf ticketing, and B2B customer quote turnaround times.
- Automation and Capability Uplift: Measurable reduction in manual pricing effort and release of analyst capacity through automated tools, SAP workflows, and structured playbooks.

Essential:
- Education: Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, or a related discipline is required (or equivalent senior retail/B2B commercial experience)
- Experience: Minimum of 7–10+ years in retail pricing, B2B commercial pricing, category management, procurement, or supplier negotiations, including 3–5+ years leading teams or complex commercial programs
- Commercial Acumen: Expertise in retail and B2B pricing principles, price elasticity modelling, margin drivers, supplier should-cost analysis, and trading terms governance
- Technical Systems: Practical working knowledge of SAP pricing engines, SAP CRM/BW, pricing analytics platforms, automated workflow engines, and advanced data visualization tools
