Job Title: Powertrain Integration & Packaging Engineer This role focuses on integrating and packaging powertrain systems within the vehicle environment, ensuring that engines, transmissions, e-drives, batteries, and associated systems fit seamlessly into the chassis while meeting performance, dimensional, and manufacturability targets.

You will work across the full product lifecycle, from early concept and advanced dimensional engineering through to vehicle-level packaging, digital validation, and release, acting as a key member of an offshore engineering team and collaborating closely with global stakeholders and suppliers.

Responsibilities

- Lead concept design studies for new product development across powertrain commodities including engine, transmission, driveline, air intake, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and electrical systems.
- Develop and implement design enhancements to improve efficiency, performance, and manufacturability of powertrain components and systems.
- Provide design support from concept through production validation, ensuring alignment with vehicle-level requirements and design rules.
- Handle powertrain packaging within the vehicle environment, ensuring optimal layout and integration of propulsion components.
- Redesign exhaust and fuel systems to comply with new homologation and regulatory requirements.
- Develop packaging concepts for powertrain commodities that optimize space, weight, serviceability, and manufacturability.
- Create, maintain, and update 3D packaging models of propulsion components such as engines, transmissions, e-drives, batteries, inverters, and cooling systems within the vehicle environment.
- Independently perform complex GD&T; application in accordance with Y14.5 standards to ensure robust dimensional definition.
- Conduct linear, radial, and bolt stack-up analysis to verify dimensional robustness and tolerance compatibility.
- Perform Variation Systems Analysis (VSA) to assess and control dimensional variation in assemblies.
- Execute Digital Pre-Assembly (DPA) activities, conducting clearance and interference checks of parts against surrounding environments according to established OEM design rules.
- Carry out Digital Mock-Up (DMU) studies, including clearance checks and static and dynamic simulations, to confirm compliance with packaging and design guidelines.
- Drive the Engineering Change Management process, managing end-to-end 2D and 3D CAD data releases in line with engineering standards.
- Prepare and release CAD models and drawings using tools such as CATIA V5 and 3DExperience, ensuring data integrity and configuration control in PLM systems like Teamcenter.




- Collaborate with cross-functional global engineering teams to resolve technical issues related to powertrain integration and packaging.
- Guide and support suppliers in delivering 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings that comply with established standards and requirements.
- Work closely with CAE and thermal teams to address thermal management and NVH considerations related to cooling, exhaust, and airflow routing.
- Ensure that packaging solutions meet design rule requirements and performance targets while optimizing space, weight, and manufacturability.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in powertrain systems such as transmission, air intake, fuel, and cooling systems, and vehicle-level propulsion integration (candidates with up to 10 years of experience may also be considered).
- Solid exposure to manufacturing processes including casting, machining, plastic molding, and sheet metal design.
- Proven experience in vehicle packaging and interface management across chassis, body, and electrical subsystems for propulsion components such as engines, transmissions, e-drives, batteries, inverters, and cooling systems.
- Working knowledge of thermal management and NVH considerations related to cooling, exhaust, and airflow routing.
- Proficiency in CAD software, specifically CATIA V5 and 3DExperience, with strong hands-on 3D modeling capability for air intake, fuel, and cooling system components.
- Experience using Teamcenter PLM or similar systems for CAD data management and release.
- Deep understanding and practical application of Y14.5 GD&T; standards.
- Experience with Digital Mock-Up (DMU) studies, including clearance and interference checks and static/dynamic simulations to validate design rule compliance.
- Hands-on experience performing DPA (Digital Pre-Assembly) and packaging studies in a virtual environment.
- Demonstrated capability in linear, radial, and bolt stack-up analysis and Variation Systems Analysis (VSA).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional, and supplier teams.

- Familiarity with design and development of air intake, fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems within vehicle constraints.
- Ability to interpret and apply OEM design rules and standards in packaging and integration work.
- Experience working in an offshore or distributed engineering team environment.
- Comfort working with static and dynamic simulation tools for packaging validation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to resolving integration and packaging issues.
- Ability to guide suppliers on CAD standards, drawing quality, and data deliverables.
