Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing – Payment Posting professional to handle accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments. The candidate will be responsible for posting EOBs/ERAs, reconciling payments, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining accurate patient account records.
Key Responsibilities
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the billing system.
- Process EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and ERAs (Electronic Remittance Advices).
- Post contractual adjustments, denials, refunds, and other adjustments as per the EOB/ERA.
- Identify and resolve payment posting discrepancies.
- Reconcile daily payment batches with bank deposits and system totals.
- Handle EFT/ERA transactions and ensure accurate payment application.
- Identify underpayments, overpayments, duplicate payments, and unapplied payments.
- Transfer or reallocate payments to the appropriate patient accounts when required.
- Maintain accurate records of posted payments and adjustments.
- Coordinate with the AR/Denial Management team regarding payment discrepancies and denials.
- Follow payer-specific guidelines and client SOPs.
- Meet daily productivity and accuracy targets.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of US healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM).
- Good understanding of medical billing and payment posting processes.
- Knowledge of EOB, ERA, EFT, CPT, ICD-10, and insurance terminology.
- Basic understanding of insurance payment and adjustment codes.
- Good analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Solid attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and medical billing software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- 2–4 years of experience in US healthcare medical billing/payment posting.
- Experience working with billing systems such as Epic, Cerner, NextGen, Athena, or similar systems is preferred.
Should be flexible with night shift timings (8:30 am to 5:30 pm).
5 Days work - Fixed shift (Saturday and Sunday Week off).
