Job Title: Manager Customs Clearance & Compliance

Job Purpose The Manager of Customs Clearance & Compliance will provide strategic and operational leadership to our Air/ocean import division and our in-house custom bonded warehouse operations at Air Cargo/JNPA.

We are seeking a high-caliber leader capable of managing a team of over 15 professionals (comprising documentation executives and port field staff). The ideal candidate will combine solid people management skills with deep expertise in Allied Acts and CBIC regulations to ensure 100% compliant, zero-delay clearances.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 15+ personnel, including office-based documentation executives and on-ground port/CFS /cargo field staff.
- Streamline daily air/ ocean import operations ensuring optimal workload distribution and high productivity.
- Drive a "First-Time-Right" culture within the team to maximize the percentage of Bills of Entry cleared without facing classification queries or amendments.
- Resolve high-pressure operational crises, such as customs holds, physical cargo examinations, and complex query responses on ICEGATE.

2. Allied Acts Compliance & Risk Management

- Act as the ultimate compliance anchor for shipments governed by Allied Acts, securing swift clearances from agencies including BIS, FSSAI, CDSCO (Pharma), WPC, Plant Quarantine (PQ), Animal Quarantine (AQ), and EPR (E-waste).
- Maintain flawless execution of Harmonised System (HS) classifications, CAROTAR 2020 verification,



Faceless Assessment queries, and FTA preferential duty benefits.
- Keep the organization audit-ready by overseeing regular internal audits of bonds, bank guarantees, and licenses.

3. Communication & Stakeholder Liaison

- Demonstrate exceptional communication and negotiation skills when interfacing with Corporate client, senior Customs Officials, CFS authorities and shipping lines.
- Provide expert regulatory advisory to corporate clients, simplifying complex customs procedures and Allied Acts documentation for them.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Team Performance: Efficiency, turnaround times, and accuracy metrics of the 15+ member team.
- Warehouse Compliance: 100% error-free maintenance of bonded warehouse registers and zero regulatory flags during audits.
- Dwell Time & Cost Control: Minimizing container dwell times at JNPA to eliminate unnecessary demurrage, detention, and ground rent.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience: 5 to 7+ years of core experience in ocean customs clearance within the logistics, Freight Forwarding, or Custom House Agent (CHA) industry.
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience in managing, motivating, and scheduling tasks for a large operational team (15+ headcount).
- Education & Certifications: Graduate or Post-Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Business. A Rule 6 / Rule 9 qualification under CBLR is an added advantage.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in ICEGATE, e-Sanchit, PCS, and modern logistics/WMS software.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Hindi/Marathi proficiency is highly desirable for local port liaison).
