Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Testing Lead with 12+ years of experience in mainframe application testing. The candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL and DB2, proven leadership capabilities, and experience coordinating between onshore and offshore teams.

The role requires hands-on testing expertise along with the ability to lead testing activities, manage stakeholders, drive automation, and ensure quality delivery for mainframe applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end Mainframe Testing activities across multiple releases/projects.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and prepare test strategies and test plans.
- Perform and oversee testing of COBOL-based mainframe applications.
- Validate data and backend processing using DB2.
- Lead System Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Functional Testing, and Production Validation.
- Coordinate effectively between Onshore and Offshore (ON/OFF) teams.
- Allocate work, monitor progress, resolve blockers, and ensure timely delivery.
- Conduct defect triage and coordinate with development teams for resolution.
- Perform root-cause analysis for critical defects.
- Drive test automation initiatives for mainframe applications wherever applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, efficiency, and execution time through automation.
- Review test cases, test scenarios, test data, and execution results.
- Provide regular status reports, risk assessments, and escalation updates to stakeholders.




- Lead test planning for major releases and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Mentor junior testers and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, production support, and project management teams.

Required Technical Skills

- 12+ years of Mainframe Testing experience
- Strong hands-on knowledge of COBOL
- Strong knowledge of DB2
- Good understanding of JCL, VSAM, CICS and mainframe batch processing
- Strong experience in functional and integration testing
- Experience with test automation
- Strong knowledge of test management and defect management processes
- Experience in onshore/offshore coordination
- Good understanding of SDLC/STLC
- Strong defect analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in Agile/Waterfall delivery environments

Leadership Requirements

- Ability to independently lead a team of testers.
- Solid stakeholder and client communication skills.
- Experience managing offshore/onshore delivery models.
- Ability to handle multiple releases and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong ownership of testing deliverables, risks, dependencies, and quality metrics.
- Ability to mentor team members and establish testing best practices.

Preferred Skills

- Mainframe test automation frameworks/tools.
- Knowledge of Endevor/Changeman.
- Experience with Jira, ALM, Quality Center, or similar test-management tools.
- Agile/Scrum experience.
- Banking, insurance, financial services, or other large-scale enterprise domain experience.
