Role: Finance Manager

You'll own WaterScience's finance function from accounting, taxation, and compliance to reporting, budgeting, and financial planning and help leadership make better business decisions with clear, reliable numbers.

You'll keep the finance function running smoothly while helping the business understand what the numbers mean and where we can improve.

What you'll do:

Keep the books and compliance in order

- Oversee day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and monthly closing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and the general ledger.
- Manage GST, TDS, income tax, e-invoicing, and other statutory filings.
- Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.

Report on the business

- Prepare and review P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, and other financial reports.
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
- Track actuals against budgets and investigate significant variances.
- Prepare financial analysis and reports for management.

Manage cash, vendors, and inventory

- Oversee vendor payments, payment schedules, and vendor reconciliations.
- Work with procurement and supply chain teams to track purchase costs and GRNs.
- Monitor inventory valuation, receivables, payables, and working capital.
- Identify opportunities to improve payment, purchasing, and cost-control processes.

Strengthen finance processes

- Set up and monitor internal financial controls and approval processes.
- Identify gaps in finance processes and implement practical improvements.




- Improve finance reporting and workflows through automation and better use of ERP tools.
- Ensure financial data is accurate and consistent across systems.

Support the team and leadership

- Manage and support the Finance & Accounts team and review their work.
- Work with business and operational teams to resolve finance-related issues.
- Support leadership with financial analysis for business decisions and new initiatives.
- Explain financial information clearly to non-finance teams.

What you'll need:

- 5+ years of hands-on experience across accounting and finance.
- CA qualification and Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, GST, TDS, taxation, audits, and statutory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, budgeting, and financial reporting and solid Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and financial analysis.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
- Experience managing vendor payments, reconciliations, and working capital.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to financial accuracy.
- Comfort working independently and managing multiple finance priorities.

Nice to have:

- Experience managing an internal Finance & Accounts team.
- Experience in an e-commerce, D2C, retail, or manufacturing business.
- Experience working with auditors and external finance consultants.
- Experience managing the finance function of an MSME or product-based business.
- Experience with financial modelling, scenario analysis, and investment/business cases.
- Experience with ERP implementation, finance automation, or process improvement.
