About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our Power Generation Application Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, packaging, and integration of diesel generator (genset) systems and their subsystems to meet specific customer and application requirements. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using PTC Creo, with a strong background in sheet metal design, structural base frames, and engine peripherals.

Key Responsibilities

- Genset Packaging & Integration: Design and package power generation systems, including base frames, acoustic enclosures (canopies), fuel tanks, cooling systems, and exhaust/silencer routing.
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Utilize PTC Creo to create detailed 3D models of components and assemblies. Generate accurate 2D manufacturing drawings adhering to GD&T; and industry drafting standards.
- Sheet Metal & Structural Design: Design complex sheet metal components for acoustic enclosures and structural steel base rails, ensuring structural integrity and optimal material utilization.
- BOM Management: Create and maintain accurate Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) in the PLM/ERP system.
- Design Optimization: Apply principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)



to simplify manufacturing, and improve product quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, testing, and supply chain teams to resolve design-related issues during prototype builds and regular production.
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports, installation guidelines, and operation manuals related to the specific application designs.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably within the power generation, heavy machinery, or automotive industries.
- Software Proficiency: * Advanced proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric (Part modeling, Assembly, Drafting).
- Strong expertise in Creo Sheetmetal Design and Advanced Assembly modules.
- Familiarity with PLM software (e.g., Windchill) and ERP systems is highly preferred.
- Domain Knowledge: * Robust understanding of diesel engines, alternators, and genset subsystems.
- Proficient in reading and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (fabrication, welding, sheet metal bending, and laser cutting).
