Role & responsibilities

1. Role Purpose

Lead and strengthen environmental management, sustainability performance and ISO management systems across Insulators manufacturing operations. The role will drive statutory environmental compliance, resource efficiency, emissions and waste reduction, sustainability initiatives, management-system effectiveness and continual improvement while partnering with manufacturing and support functions.

2. Key Responsibilities

Environment Management & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental consents, authorisations, permits and statutory requirements; maintain compliance calendars and timely submissions.
- Coordinate environmental monitoring of air emissions, ambient air, water, wastewater, noise and other parameters through approved processes and agencies.
- Drive effective operation and performance monitoring of pollution-control systems, ETP/STP and waste-management arrangements applicable to the site.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, storage, manifests, vendor controls, recycling/disposal records and waste-minimisation initiatives.
- Conduct environmental aspect-impact assessments and support risk controls for new projects, process changes and capacity expansions.
- Obtaining renewal/amendment of CTE,CTO/CC&A; from GPCB.
- Obtaining water withdrawal permission from CGWA NOC Renewal.
- EPR Compliances for plastic waste management.

Sustainability & Resource Efficiency

- Develop and track site sustainability roadmaps and KPIs covering energy, water, greenhouse gas emissions, waste, circularity and resource productivity.
- Identify and implement projects for reduction of energy and water consumption, waste generation and environmental footprint in partnership with Engineering, Production, Utilities and Projects teams.
- Support sustainability data collection, validation, dashboards, disclosures and internal/business reporting with robust documentation and traceability.
- Promote employee awareness and cross-functional participation in sustainability, biodiversity, water stewardship and circular-economy initiatives.
- Sustainability reporting data collection and submission i.e Scope-1,Scope-2,Scope-3,BRSR,CDP,GRI,Waste template etc.
- ESG assessment of supply chain partner/ Customers.

ISO & Integrated Management Systems





- Own coordination and continual improvement of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and support integration with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 or other applicable management systems.
- Plan and conduct internal audits, coordinate external certification/surveillance audits, track non-conformities, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain controlled procedures, registers, objectives, legal records, management-review inputs, and documented information required by the management systems.
- Build auditor capability and strengthen process ownership through awareness sessions, training and periodic compliance reviews.

Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Management

- Partner with Porcelain, Polymer and Power Composite manufacturing teams to embed environmental controls into operating practices and new product/process trials.
- Provide technical inputs for environmental due diligence, capital projects, vendor evaluation and procurement of pollution-control or resource-efficiency solutions.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities, laboratories, consultants, auditors, and authorized waste handlers as required.
- Investigate environmental incidents, deviations and complaints; perform root-cause analysis and drive sustainable corrective actions.
- Prepare concise MIS, trend analysis and governance updates for site and business leadership.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- 100% on-time statutory environmental compliance and submissions, with no avoidable non-compliance.
- Achievement of annual targets for energy, water, emissions, waste reduction, and recycling/resource recovery.
- Timely closure of audit findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
- Sustained ISO certification and improvement in internal/external audit performance.
- Quality, accuracy, and timeliness of sustainability and environmental data/MIS.
- Implementation and quantified advantages of environmental and sustainability improvement projects.
- Environmental awareness, audit readiness, and compliance maturity across functions.

Qualification & Experience

- B.Tech/M.Tech in Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in environment management, sustainability and ISO systems in a manufacturing industry; exposure to ceramics, electrical products, polymers, composites or process/manufacturing operations is desirable.
- Hands-on exposure to statutory environmental compliance, audits, pollution-control systems, waste management and sustainability improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001; exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 will be an advantage.

- External: Regulatory authorities, certification bodies, laboratories, environmental consultants, auditors, recyclers and authorized waste management agencies.

Preferred candidate profile The successful incumbent will combine strong environmental-engineering fundamentals with practical manufacturing exposure, disciplined statutory compliance, ISO audit capability, and a measurable sustainability mindset. The role requires the ability to translate environmental and sustainability priorities into site-level projects, controls and sustained operating practices across diverse Insulators manufacturing processes.
