Position: Injection Moulding Designer

Reporting To: Manager – Tool Room / Design Manager

1. JOB PURPOSE

To develop and prepare accurate injection mould designs based on customer/product requirements, ensuring manufacturability, functionality, quality, cost-effectiveness and timely completion of mould design activities.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop 3D and 2D injection mould designs based on customer drawings, 3D product models and technical specifications.
- Design mould components, mould bases, core, cavity, inserts, slides, lifters, ejector systems and other mould mechanisms.
- Prepare detailed mould assembly drawings and component drawings.
- Analyse product geometry and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) inputs.
- Review draft angles, wall thickness, parting lines, undercuts, ribs, bosses and other product features affecting mould design.
- Select suitable mould construction concepts based on product requirements and production volume.
- Design appropriate gating, runner and cooling systems.
- Design ejector systems and ensure proper part ejection.
- Coordinate with Tool Room, CNC/VMC, EDM, Wire Cut, Mould Maintenance, Production and Quality teams.
- Review mould design feasibility before manufacturing.
- Incorporate design modifications based on customer requirements, trials and technical feedback.
- Maintain proper revision control of drawings and design documents.
- Prepare BOM and maintain accurate component specifications.
- Ensure standard mould components are selected wherever applicable.




- Support mould trials and analyse mould-related issues.
- Provide design corrections and modifications based on trial results.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable company standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain design records, drawings, 3D models and related technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement in mould design, cycle time, mould life and manufacturability.
- Ensure all design activities are completed within the agreed project timeline.

1. SOFTWARE SKILLS

Candidates should have working knowledge of relevant CAD/design software such as:
- UG NX / Siemens NX
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- CATIA
- Creo / Pro-E

1. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

The candidate should have knowledge of:
- Injection mould construction
- 2-plate and 3-plate moulds
- Hot runner and cold runner systems
- Core and cavity design
- Slides and lifters
- Ejection systems
- Cooling systems
- Runner and gate design
- Mould base selection
- Standard mould components
- DFM principles
- Plastic part design considerations
- Mould steel selection
- GD&T; and engineering drawings
- Basic understanding of injection moulding processes

1. QUALIFICATION

Education: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, Production Engineering, Plastics Engineering or related technical discipline.

1. EXPERIENCE

2–5 years of relevant experience in injection mould design, plastic mould design or tool room design. Experience in designing moulds for automotive, electrical, consumer products or engineering components will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
