We are hiring for a Deal Origination – ECM / Merchant Banking role with a leading financial services firm.
The role focuses on originating Equity Capital Market (ECM) mandates by building strong relationships with promoters and corporate decision-makers. The candidate will be responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities across Pre-IPO, IPO, QIP and other equity transactions and converting these opportunities into live mandates.
The role involves regular market outreach, relationship management, client interaction and close coordination with execution and placement teams. Frequent travel and client meetings will be an integral part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and track potential fundraising opportunities across IPO, QIP, Pre-IPO and other ECM / Merchant Banking transactions through market intelligence and industry networks.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with promoters, CXOs and key corporate decision-makers.
- Understand clients' funding plans, business priorities and capital-raising requirements.
- Generate and develop current business opportunities and convert prospects into live ECM mandates.
- Prepare pitch materials, presentations and deal proposals tailored to client requirements.
- Lead discussions,
negotiate commercial terms and drive opportunities towards mandate closure.
- Work closely with execution and placement teams after mandate acquisition to ensure a smooth handover and efficient execution.
- Participate in industry events, forums and meetings to build market visibility and strengthen the origination pipeline.
- Travel extensively for client and prospect meetings.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of experience in ECM / Merchant Banking / Investment Banking or core financial markets fundraising.
- Strong experience in ECM deal origination and mandate sourcing.
- Established relationships with promoters, CXOs and corporate decision-makers.
- Strong understanding of capital markets, fundraising transactions and market dynamics.
- Good financial analysis and valuation skills.
- Strong business development, communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and market intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads and convert them into mandates.
- Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings and business development.
