We are looking for a hands-on Data Architect to lead the architecture and technical implementation of a modern data platform on Databricks. The role will define the Bronze–Silver–Gold architecture, data models, ingestion and transformation patterns, governance, data quality, and analytical data layers while providing technical leadership to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- - Design end-to-end Databricks Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture.
- Define scalable Bronze, Silver and Gold data models and transformation patterns.
- Architect ingestion and integration of heterogeneous datasets from file and cloud/object-storage sources.
- Define data harmonization, entity mapping, reference-data and analytical modelling approaches.
- Design data-quality, reconciliation, exception-handling and reprocessing frameworks.
- Design Gold-layer curated datasets for analytics and AI-assisted exploration.
- Define Unity Catalog, RBAC, metadata, lineage and governance patterns.
- Guide Data + AI Engineers through design/code reviews and technical troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the Bioinformatics SME to incorporate domain-specific data requirements.
- Support architecture documentation, performance optimization and solution handover.
Must Have
- - Strong hands-on Databricks experience.
- Spark/PySpark, Python and SQL.
- Delta Lake and Bronze–Silver–Gold/Medallion Architecture.
- Strong data modelling and ETL/ELT architecture experience.
- Databricks Unity Catalog, RBAC and data lineage.
- Data quality, reconciliation and metadata-management concepts.
- Cloud data platforms and object storage, preferably AWS/S3.
- Ability to operate as a hands-on architect/technical lead in a rapid-paced MVP.
Preferred
- - Bioinformatics/Life Sciences data experience.
- Exposure to genomics or multi-omics datasets.
- Databricks AI/BI Genie.
- Databricks certification.
- Posit/R, Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles.
