About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Bulk Material Handling Designer to prepare detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for aggregate and bulk handling systems built to US standards. You'll work closely with design engineers on conveyor systems, transfer structures, and plant equipment for quarries, sand and gravel, mining, and related industries.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings of BMH equipment and structures using Advance Steel
- Prepare GA drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and assembly drawings for:
- Belt conveyors, conveyor trusses, and support trestles
- Transfer towers and support structures
- Chutes, hoppers, bins, and surge piles
- Walkways, platforms, handrails, and stairs
- Select aggregate material handling components based on capacity, material properties, and duty, including:
- Conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and take-ups
- Drives, gearboxes, motors, and backstops
- Belt scrapers, skirting, and impact beds
- Feeders, screens, crushers, and stackers (interface and layout)
- Interpret design calculations, engineering sketches, and client specifications into accurate drawings
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil teams to resolve interfaces and clashes




- Revise drawings based on engineer and client comments, and maintain revision control
- Make sure designs comply with US codes and standards: CEMA, AISC, OSHA, AWS D1.1, and MSHA where applicable
- Support shop and site teams with clarifications during fabrication and erection

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- 510 years of design and detailing experience in Bulk Material Handling systems
- Strong hands-on expertise in Advance Steel (modelling, connections, and drawing extraction)
- Proven experience with USA standards (CEMA, AISC, OSHA, AWS) and US projects
- Experience selecting aggregate material handling components (idlers, pulleys, belts, drives, and similar)
- Good understanding of steel structures, conveyor components, and fabrication practices
- Familiarity with AWS welding symbols, imperial units, and US drafting conventions
- Attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines

Preferred
- Experience in the aggregate, quarry, or sand and gravel industry
- Familiarity with conveyor design calculations using CEMA methods
