About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager / Supervisor– Mining (Iron Ore) who can take ownership of mine production, equipment productivity, deployment planning, shift performance and safety compliance.

The role is specifically designed for a mining professional who can identify the reasons for productivity gaps at the operating face and convert available equipment, manpower and working hours into measurable production output, plan to meet the targets.

The candidate should have strong exposure to fully mechanised open-cast iron ore mining, with proven ability to improve excavator, dumper/tipper, dozing and allied equipment productivity.

This is not a desk-based supervisory role. The successful candidate will be expected to remain closely connected with the mine operation, monitor actual performance against planned productivity and take immediate corrective action.

1. Production & Productivity Improvement

- Drive achievement of daily, shift-wise and monthly production targets.
- Analyse equipment-wise productivity and identify reasons for underperformance.
- Improve excavator utilisation, bucket productivity, loading cycle time and truck/tipper turnaround time.
- Monitor actual versus planned BCM/tonnage per hour, trips per hour, cycle time, loading time, dumping time and equipment availability.
- Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks affecting production.
- Conduct regular productivity audits at the working face.
- Establish equipment-wise productivity benchmarks and ensure shift teams work towards achieving them.
- Continuously improve loading–hauling–dumping cycle efficiency.




- Ensure optimum utilisation of available equipment rather than merely increasing equipment deployment.

1. Equipment Deployment & Fleet Optimisation

- Prepare and implement shift-wise equipment deployment plans.
- Optimise deployment of excavators, tippers, dozers, graders, wheel loaders, drills and other mining equipment.
- Match excavator capacity with appropriate number and capacity of tippers.
- Ensure proper excavator–tipper fleet matching to minimise idle time.
- Monitor equipment queuing, idle time, waiting time and unproductive movement.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise equipment downtime.
- Review equipment utilisation and recommend corrective deployment/reallocation.
- Ensure availability of critical equipment during production shifts.

1. Mining Planning & Operational Coordination

- Assist in short-term and weekly mining plans in line with the approved mine plan and production targets.
- Plan working faces, excavation sequence, haul roads, dumping areas and equipment movement.
- Coordinate excavation, loading, transportation, dumping, crushing/screening and stockyard activities.
- Ensure availability of sufficient working fronts and proper face management.
- Identify operational constraints in advance and prepare mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with Geology, Survey, Mine Planning, Maintenance, Safety and Plant teams.

1. Shift Performance Management

- Conduct effective shift start-up meetings and communicate transparent production targets.
- Review previous-shift performance and identify deviations.
- Monitor operations continuously during the shift rather than relying only on end-of-shift reports.
- Establish accountability of supervisors, mining mates, foremen and operators against measurable output.
- Maintain shift-wise production and productivity dashboards.




- Escalate recurring operational constraints with facts and data.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts.

1. Worker & Operator Motivation

- Develop a performance-oriented work culture among supervisors, operators, drivers and workmen.
- Motivate operators and frontline employees to achieve productivity targets without compromising safety.
- Identify high-performing operators and teams and encourage performance-based recognition.
- Coach supervisors and foremen on effective manpower and equipment management.
- Improve communication between management and frontline workforce.
- Address avoidable manpower-related productivity losses.

1. Safety & Statutory Compliance

- Ensure production activities are carried out strictly in accordance with DGMS requirements, approved mining plans, SOPs, HIRA/JSA and site safety procedures.
- Ensure safe operation of excavators, tippers, dozers, drills and other HEMM.
- Monitor bench height, width, slope, haul road condition, berms, traffic management and dumping practices.
- Conduct regular field inspections and identify unsafe conditions/acts.
- Ensure implementation of Permit to Work, LOTO, toolbox talks, traffic management and other safety systems as applicable.
- Stop unsafe operations immediately and ensure corrective action.
- Maintain the principle that productivity improvement must never be achieved by compromising safety.

1. Data-Based Performance Monitoring

The candidate will be expected to work with measurable operational KPIs including:
- Excavator productivity – tonnes/BCM per hour
- Excavator utilisation and availability
- Tipper trips per hour
- Tipper cycle time
- Loading time
- Hauling and dumping time
- Queue/waiting time
- Equipment idle time
- Fuel consumption per tonne
- Production per operating hour
- Operator-wise productivity
- Shift-wise production achievement
- Planned vs actual equipment deployment
- Equipment downtime and its impact on production

The candidate should be comfortable using Excel / MIS / dashboards / fleet management systems for analysing operational data.
