Location: Salt Lake, Kolkata
Job Type: Full-time
Experience: 1–3 Years in Academic Counselling, EdTech Sales, Admissions or Student Conversion
Industry: EdTech | Education | Skill Development | Employability
About BCIPL
Bijoy Capital Institute of Professional Learning (BCIPL) is a leading Financial Education and Employability Institute dedicated to developing industry-ready professionals for the BFSI and FinTech sectors.
Through practical, technology-enabled learning in Taxation, Digital Banking, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Wealth Management, Financial Planning, and other career-focused programs, BCIPL empowers learners with the knowledge and skills required to build successful careers.
Job Summary
BCIPL is looking for a highly motivated, psychology-driven and target-oriented Admission Counsellor who can understand the mindset, needs, motivations and concerns of prospective students and parents, and convert qualified enquiries into program enrolments.
This is not a traditional telecalling role.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to "find the pulse of a candidate"—understand what the candidate really wants, identify the actual reason behind their hesitation, build trust, recommend the right program, handle objections and guide them towards an informed admission decision.
If you enjoy understanding people, influencing career decisions, counselling students and converting opportunities into admissions, this role offers strong career and earning growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle student enquiries through calls, WhatsApp, online leads, walk-ins and other channels.
- Understand the candidate's academic background, career goals, interests, financial considerations and expectations.
- Identify the candidate's real need, pain point, motivation and decision-making factors through effective questioning and active listening.
- Read the candidate's level of interest, hesitation and intent during counselling conversations.
- Apply strong understanding of candidate psychology and behaviour to personalise the counselling approach.
- Recommend suitable BCIPL programs based on the candidate's career objectives and requirements.
- Explain program structure, curriculum, career opportunities, learning outcomes, eligibility and admission process.
- Build trust and create a robust connection with students and parents.
- Handle objections related to fees, course value, career opportunities, timing, family concerns and decision-making.
- Follow up systematically with interested and undecided candidates.
- Convert qualified leads into confirmed admissions.
- Take complete ownership of assigned leads from enquiry to enrolment.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, follow-up trackers and conversion reports.
- Coordinate with the internal team regarding documentation, payment and student onboarding.
- Achieve individual and team admission and conversion targets.
- Participate in seminars, counselling events, student engagement activities and other admission initiatives.
The Ideal Counsellor
A successful counsellor at BCIPL should be able to go beyond what the candidate says and understand what the candidate actually means.
For example:
Candidate says: "I need some time to think."
A good counsellor asks the right questions to understand whether the actual concern is:
- Course value
- Fees
- Career outcome
- Family approval
- Lack of confidence
- Comparison with another option
- Uncertainty about the career path
The objective is not to push a candidate into a program.
The objective is to understand the candidate, identify the right need, build trust and convert the right candidate into the right program.
