Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Product & Design Standardization Specialist (Interior/Product Designer) who bridges the gap between interior design, product categorization, and factory manufacturing.

In this role, you will evaluate Farwood’s product portfolio ranging from custom modular systems to loose furniture and hardware and categorize them into a master product library & visual catalog. You will build standard modular units, define material specifications, and set the baseline for our design and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Product Categorization & Library Development:
- Map, audit, and analyze Farwood’s product range across cabinetry, wardrobes, wall paneling, loose furniture, and structural joinery.
- Systematically organize products by category, style, price point, complexity, and structural type to build a comprehensive internal & external catalog.
- Standardization & Modularization:
- Convert custom interior designs into standardized modular units and repeatable design components.
- Define standard sizes, hardware specifications, core materials, and finish options (e.g., veneers, laminates, lacquers, acrylics).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration (Design to Factory):
- Collaborate with the Design Team to ensure cataloged products reflect current interior trends and client needs.




- Work with Factory Production & Engineering Teams to verify hardware compatibility, construction feasibility, and cut-list guidelines.
- Catalog Creation & Digital Asset Management:
- Develop visual product specification sheets (Datasheets/2D/3D visual renders) detailing dimensions, finish choices, and hardware setups.
- Maintain the digital asset library for quick reference during client pitches, design development, and estimation.
- Costing & BOQ Support:
- Assist in establishing base costing templates and standardized BOQ (Bill of Quantities) line items tied to cataloged product codes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, or Architecture.
- Experience: 3–6 years of experience in custom/modular furniture design, millwork detailing, or interior production environments.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of furniture joinery, hardware systems (e.g., Blum, Hafele, Hettich), edge-banding, and core substrates (Plywood, MDF, Particle Board).
- Hands-on knowledge of modular kitchen and wardrobe manufacturing processes.
- Software Proficiency:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp / 3ds Max / Revit.
- Familiarity with rendering engines (V-Ray, Corona, or similar) to generate visual representations for the catalog.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets) for product categorization and data mapping.
- Key Traits: Solid visual aesthetics, exceptional organizational skills, structural clarity, and a passion for systems and standardization.
