Role Summary
The FSSAI Regulatory & Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all company operations, products, and facilities strictly adhere to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations. This role serves as the primary liaison between the organization and regulatory authorities, managing everything from licensing and formulation compliance to packaging regulations, facility audits, and mandatory documentation.
Key Responsibilities1. Licensing & Registration

- Manage the end-to-end process of obtaining, modifying, and renewing FSSAI State and Central licenses through the FoSCoS portal.
- Ensure all branch locations, manufacturing units, and warehouses possess valid and updated FSSAI licenses.
- Track licensing expiry dates and initiate renewal processes proactively to prevent operational disruptions.

2. Product & Label Compliance

- Review and approve product formulations, ingredients, and additives to ensure adherence to FSSAI standards.
- Validate all product packaging, artworks, nutritional panels, and marketing claims against the FSSAI (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations and the FSSAI (Advertising and Claims) Regulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update internal stakeholders on new gazette notifications, advisories, or directives impacting the product portfolio.

3. Audits & Inspections

- Develop, implement, and monitor the Food Safety Management System (FSMS)



across all manufacturing and storage facilities.
- Conduct regular internal audits to assess facility hygiene, food safety practices, and overall FSSAI compliance.
- Facilitate external audits and regulatory inspections by FSSAI Food Safety Officers (FSO).
- Draft and execute Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans in response to any audit non-conformances.

4. Documentation & Reporting

- File mandatory FSSAI Annual Returns and half-yearly returns within statutory deadlines.
- Maintain comprehensive records, including water testing reports, pest control records, medical fitness certificates of food handlers, and product testing reports from NABL-accredited laboratories.
- Draft and maintain the company’s Food Recall Plan in accordance with FSSAI guidelines.

5. Supply Chain & Vendor Management

- Audit and verify the FSSAI compliance of raw material suppliers, co-manufacturers, and logistics partners.
- Maintain a centralized database of vendor FSSAI licenses and quality certifications.

6. Training & Development

- Ensure the required number of employees are trained and certified under the FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) program.
- Conduct regular in-house training sessions for floor staff on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP),



Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and allergen management.

Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of dedicated experience in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, or Compliance within the Food & Beverage industry.
- Certifications: Active FoSTaC certification (Advance Manufacturing) is highly preferred. Lead Auditor certification for ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 / HACCP is an added advantage.

Key Competencies

- Regulatory Expertise: Deep, up-to-date knowledge of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and subsequent rules and regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing legal documentation, scientific claims, and intricate label designs.
- Communication Skills: Robust written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with government officials, cross-functional teams (R&D;, Marketing, Supply Chain), and external vendors.
- Crisis Management: Ability to act decisively during critical compliance issues, product recalls, or unexpected regulatory inspections.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in navigating government portals (FoSCoS, FSSAI websites) and using standard MS Office/ERP software for documentation tracking.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
