Job Title: Senior Tool Crib In-Charge
Department: Production / Tool Room
Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Head
Experience: 5–12 Years

Job Summary

Responsible for overall management of the Tool Crib, including tool inventory, issue and return, tool life monitoring, tool availability, reconditioning, and coordination with Production, Purchase, Stores, and Tool Room teams. The role will ensure optimum tool utilization, availability, cost control, and proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day operations of the Tool Crib and ensure timely availability of tools for production.
- Maintain inventory of cutting tools, inserts, holders, gauges, fixtures, consumables, and other tooling items.
- Control tool issue, return, replacement, and reconditioning through proper records and systems.
- Monitor tool consumption, tool life, and usage patterns to minimize unnecessary consumption and tooling costs.
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels and initiate purchase requirements based on consumption and production plans.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for timely procurement and availability of critical tools.
- Maintain proper identification, storage, and traceability of all tools.
- Monitor tool condition and ensure damaged, worn, or obsolete tools are segregated and properly controlled.
- Coordinate with Production and CNC teams regarding tool requirements, tool performance, and technical issues.
- Support tool selection and standardization to improve machining performance and reduce tooling costs.
- Analyze tool consumption and prepare regular reports on usage, inventory, and cost.
- Maintain proper documentation for tool movement,



stock verification, and audit requirements.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of tool inventory and reconcile system and physical stock.
- Identify opportunities for tool cost reduction, standardization, and improved tool utilization.
- Coordinate with tooling suppliers for technical discussions, trials, and new tool development.
- Lead and guide junior Tool Crib personnel and ensure proper adherence to procedures.
- Ensure 5S, safety, housekeeping, and discipline within the Tool Crib.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5–12 years of experience in Tool Crib, Tool Room, CNC machining, or manufacturing operations.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, gauges, and machining consumables.
- Understanding of CNC machining and common tooling applications.
- Strong inventory management and documentation skills.
- Experience in tool consumption and cost analysis.
- Positive knowledge of MS Excel / ERP systems for inventory and reporting.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Leadership ability to manage Tool Crib personnel and coordinate with multiple departments.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
