Production & Operations Head – Interior & Manufacturing1. Position Details

Reporting To: Director / Managing Director / Business Head
Team Managed: Production Managers, Production Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, Skilled & Semi-Skilled Workers, Quality, Stores and other factory support teams as applicable.

2. Job Purpose

To manage and control the overall production and factory operations to ensure that projects are manufactured on time, within the approved cost, as per drawings/specifications and required quality standards.

The role is responsible for improving productivity, controlling wastage, coordinating with Design, PPC, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Projects and Dispatch teams, and ensuring smooth day-to-day factory operations.

3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Production Planning & Execution

- Plan and monitor daily, weekly and monthly production activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per project schedules.
- Allocate manpower, machines and resources effectively.
- Monitor production progress against the planned schedule.
- Identify production delays and take corrective action.
- Ensure smooth flow of work from cutting to final finishing and dispatch.
- Coordinate with PPC for production priorities and delivery schedules.

B. Operations Management

- Manage overall factory operations and workflow.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery and factory resources.
- Establish proper work processes and production controls.
- Monitor machine capacity and production bottlenecks.
- Improve productivity through better processes and work allocation.
- Ensure proper coordination between different production sections.

C. Project & Department Coordination

- Coordinate with Design, PPC, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Projects and Dispatch departments.
- Review drawings, BOMs and production requirements with the concerned teams.
- Ensure availability of required materials before starting production.
- Coordinate production priorities according to project/site requirements.
- Support Project Managers in meeting project delivery commitments.

D. Quality Control

- Ensure products are manufactured according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality team to reduce defects and rework.
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective measures.




- Ensure proper inspection at important stages of production.
- Monitor rejection, rework and customer/site complaints related to production.

E. Material & Wastage Control

- Monitor consumption of plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, hardware, wood, metal and other materials.
- Control material wastage and unnecessary consumption.
- Ensure proper utilization and reuse of suitable scrap materials.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for material availability.
- Monitor material shortages affecting production.

F. Manpower Management

- Plan manpower requirements according to production workload.
- Allocate workers according to skill and production requirements.
- Monitor worker productivity and attendance.
- Identify training requirements for operators and supervisors.
- Develop skilled workers and supervisors for critical production activities.
- Maintain discipline and proper workplace practices within the production area.

G. Cost & Productivity Control

- Monitor production costs and resource utilization.
- Reduce overtime, rework, rejection and material wastage.
- Improve labour productivity and machine utilization.
- Implement cost-saving and productivity-improvement initiatives.
- Monitor production KPIs and take corrective action where required.

H. Machinery & Maintenance Coordination

- Ensure proper utilization and availability of production machinery.
- Coordinate with Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Minimize machine downtime.
- Ensure machines are operated safely and correctly.
- Monitor maintenance requirements affecting production schedules.

I. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with factory safety procedures.
- Promote safe working practices among workers and supervisors.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is used on the shop floor.
- Report and address unsafe working conditions.
- Coordinate with HR/Admin/Safety teams regarding factory discipline and safety matters.

J. Process Improvement

- Identify bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies.
- Introduce improved production methods and standard operating procedures.
- Implement 5S, visual management and other suitable workplace improvement practices.




- Improve production flow and reduce unnecessary movement and waiting time.
- Encourage continuous improvement among production teams.

K. MIS & Reporting

- Prepare and review daily/weekly/monthly production reports.
- Monitor:

6. Educational Qualification

Preferred: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, Civil or a relevant field.

Additional qualifications in Production Management / Operations Management will be an advantage.

7. Experience

Preferred: 10–15+ years of relevant experience in production and operations, preferably in:

- Interior fit-out manufacturing
- Retail fixtures manufacturing
- Furniture manufacturing
- Woodwork manufacturing
- Modular furniture
- Commercial interiors
- Shopfitting / retail projects

Experience managing a large factory production team will be preferred.
