Job Title: Technical Operations Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a responsible and technically capable Technical Operations Engineer to oversee day-to-day technical service operations, coordinate the technical service team, supervise fabrication and workshop activities, and support the procurement and sourcing of marine and mechanical materials.

The candidate will act as a key link between management, customers, vessels, service technicians, workshop personnel, and the store/procurement team. The role requires a practical approach, positive technical understanding, strong coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple jobs and requirements simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Service & Operations

- Coordinate and oversee the company's day-to-day marine technical service activities.
- Plan and allocate jobs to service engineers, technicians, fabricators, and other technical personnel.
- Coordinate with customers, vessel representatives, and service teams regarding job requirements, schedules, and site visits.
- Monitor ongoing jobs to ensure work is completed according to required specifications and timelines.
- Visit vessels, customer sites, workshops, and other locations when required for technical assessment and job coordination.
- Provide technical support and practical solutions for routine marine and mechanical requirements.
- Coordinate multiple service jobs simultaneously and ensure proper follow-up until completion.
- Maintain records of completed, ongoing, and upcoming technical jobs.

Workshop & Fabrication

- Oversee day-to-day operations of the fabrication and mechanical workshop.
- Coordinate fabrication, welding, cutting, drilling, assembly, repair, modification, and maintenance work.
- Supervise workshop personnel and ensure jobs are carried out according to drawings, dimensions, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed work for basic dimensional accuracy, quality, and conformity with requirements.
- Plan material and manpower requirements for workshop jobs.
- Ensure proper use and handling of tools, equipment, consumables, and materials.

Procurement & Technical Sourcing

- Assist the store and procurement team in identifying and sourcing marine, mechanical, industrial,



and engineering materials.
- Identify the correct products based on technical specifications, dimensions, grades, standards, and application.
- Prepare technical enquiries and RFQs for suppliers when required.
- Evaluate supplier quotations from a technical and commercial perspective.
- Coordinate with suppliers for technical clarifications, availability, specifications, and delivery.
- Assist in sourcing difficult-to-find marine spares, mechanical components, tools, equipment, and consumables.
- Verify that materials received meet the required specifications before they are issued for jobs.

Team Coordination & Reporting

- Supervise and coordinate the technical service team on a day-to-day basis.
- Track manpower deployment and job progress.
- Maintain a daily/weekly record of service activities, completed jobs, pending jobs, and upcoming requirements.
- Prepare regular operations and job status reports for management.
- Report delays, material requirements, technical issues, manpower requirements, and other operational concerns to management.
- Ensure proper documentation of service reports, job sheets, material consumption, and work completion.
- Coordinate between the technical team, workshop, stores, procurement, accounts, and management.

Customer & Vessel Coordination

- Communicate with customers and vessel personnel regarding technical requirements and job details.
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into clear technical instructions for the service team.
- Assist customers in identifying suitable marine and industrial products when required.
- Coordinate vessel attendance, service schedules, manpower, tools, materials, and transportation for jobs.
- Follow up on customer requirements and ensure timely completion and documentation of work.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of marine engineering, mechanical systems, fabrication, piping,



valves, fittings, fasteners, tools, and engineering materials.
- Practical understanding of workshop and fabrication activities.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, dimensions, specifications, and datasheets.
- Strong coordination and team-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, email, and ERP/software systems.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to identify technical products and source them from appropriate suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on operational environment and travel to vessels, ports, workshops, and customer locations when required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in marine services, shipyards, fabrication, mechanical workshops, industrial services, or marine supply.
- Experience coordinating service technicians or workshop personnel will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of marine equipment, ship spares, piping, valves, welding consumables, safety equipment, and general industrial supplies will be preferred.
- Candidates with strong practical knowledge and relevant field experience may also be considered.
