Job Overview Are you an experienced Surety Underwriting / Credit Risk / Project Finance / Contractor Risk professional with strong expertise in financial statement analysis, contractor assessment, project evaluation and risk underwriting? We are looking for an analytical and commercially driven professional to support Surety Underwriting and contribute to building a profitable and sustainable portfolio.

Responsibilities

- Assess contractor financial statements, cash flows, liquidity, working capital, leverage and overall financial strength to determine creditworthiness.
- Evaluate banking arrangements including fund-based and non-fund-based facilities, bank guarantees and the contractor's ability to absorb project delays, cost overruns, disputes and potential bond invocation.
- Identify financial and business red flags including stretched working capital, excessive debt, contingent liabilities, aggressive accounting practices and promoter-related risks.
- Review tender documents, contracts and project details including scope, obligations, timelines, milestones, payment mechanisms and key clauses that may result in bond invocation.
- Evaluate contractor experience and execution capability across infrastructure, EPC, construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, power and other relevant sectors.
- Underwrite and recommend exposure across Bid Bonds, Performance Bonds, Advance Payment Bonds, Retention Bonds, Maintenance/Warranty Bonds, Customs Bonds, Arbitration Bonds and other Contract Surety exposures.
- Recommend exposure limits,



pricing, collateral requirements, special conditions and prepare detailed underwriting notes and recommendations.
- Monitor contractor and project-specific exposures, utilization against approved limits, cash flow trends, receivables, project status and emerging risks.
- Support early warning mechanisms and structured portfolio monitoring to identify and escalate potential risks.
- Coordinate with brokers, sales teams, contractors, project owners and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and risk exposures.

Requirements

- 2-5 years of relevant experience in Surety Underwriting, Credit Risk, Infrastructure Finance, Project Finance, Contractor Risk Assessment, Commercial Underwriting or related areas.
- CA preferred; MBA Finance or equivalent qualification may also be considered.
- Strong experience in financial statement analysis, credit assessment, working capital analysis and risk evaluation.
- Exposure to contractor financial assessment, infrastructure/construction companies, bank guarantees or project finance will be preferred.
- Understanding of tender documents, contracts, project cash flows, contractual obligations and project-specific risks.
- Knowledge of Surety products such as Bid Bonds, Performance Bonds, Advance Payment Bonds, Retention Bonds, Maintenance/Warranty Bonds and Customs Bonds will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact with brokers, clients, business teams and internal stakeholders.
