Role Description The State Head – Collections will oversee end-to-end collections operations across the assigned state, with a primary focus on loan accounts and recovery performance. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, requiring close coordination with branch teams, telecalling units, and field recovery staff.

Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and monitoring collection strategies, tracking bucket-wise portfolio performance, and ensuring timely recovery of loan accounts in both soft and hard buckets. The role will involve managing vendor and agency relationships, reviewing legal recovery processes, and implementing corrective actions to improve collection efficiency and reduce delinquencies.

Head – Collections will also analyze data and reports, provide performance insights to senior management, ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory guidelines, and support business sourcing and credit risk controls as needed.

Qualifications

- Robust experience in collections management, recovery operations, and portfolio monitoring, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Proficiency in coordinating telecalling teams, field collection staff, and external agencies to achieve collection targets.
- Ability to analyze collection data, prepare performance reports, and use insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- Knowledge of legal recovery processes, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards related to collections.
- Effective leadership and people management skills, including mentoring, performance oversight, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle customers, partners, and internal stakeholders professionally.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, with comfort working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, commerce, or a related field; advanced qualifications or relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in managing state-level or regional collections portfolios and on-ground field operations is highly desirable.
