Job Summary
Roots Foundation is looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Program Manager – Sports & Physical Literacy to lead and manage sports and physical literacy initiatives aimed at improving health, fitness, participation, and overall well-being among children and communities.
The role will involve end-to-end program management, team leadership, stakeholder coordination, field implementation, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring the effective delivery of sports and physical literacy programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, implementation, and overall management of Sports & Physical Literacy programs.
- Develop program plans, activity calendars, implementation strategies, and timelines.
- Ensure effective execution of sports, physical activity, fitness, and physical literacy interventions at the field level.
- Manage and mentor program teams, coaches, trainers, coordinators, and field staff.
- Coordinate with schools, communities, government bodies, CSR partners, sports organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor program implementation and quality.
- Develop and monitor program KPIs, milestones, outputs, and outcomes.
- Ensure timely collection, review, and analysis of program data and impact indicators.
- Prepare regular program reports, MIS, presentations, case studies, and donor/management updates.
- Identify implementation challenges and develop practical solutions to ensure smooth program delivery.
- Support development of training modules, SOPs, guidelines, and capacity-building programs for field teams.
- Coordinate sports events, competitions, workshops, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of program activities, success stories, photographs, and impact.
- Work closely with the senior management team on program strategy, budgeting, resource planning, and expansion.
- Support identification of new opportunities, partnerships, and locations for scaling sports and physical literacy initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding requirements, and program standards.
- Represent the organization in relevant meetings, forums, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Master's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Sports Science, Social Work, Development Studies, Management, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in sports development, physical literacy, community sports, CSR programs, NGO/development sector, or program management.
- Experience in managing large-scale sports/physical activity programs and field teams.
- Strong experience in program planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership and managing multiple projects/locations.
- Strong communication, presentation, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and MIS/reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project locations and conduct field visits.
- Candidates with experience working with schools, children, communities, CSR foundations, or government programs will be preferred.
