Position Overview

Arvind Ltd. is seeking a technical and operational Senior Manager Dyeing to lead the continuous and batch dyeing operations for our specialized Gabardine Fabric Expansion Project. This role is responsible for driving shade development, continuous dyeing ranges (CPB, Econtrol, Thermosol, Pad-Steam), and jigger/softflow dyeing operations dedicated to high-density, heavy bottom-weight gabardines and twill fabrics.

The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in dye chemistry, automated color matching, and continuous processing technology with strong shop-floor management to deliver First-Time-Right (FTR) shade accuracy, batch-to-batch consistency, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

- Shop-Floor Dyeing & Process Management

- Continuous & Batch Dyeing Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations across Pad-Thermosol, Pad-Steam, Cold Pad Batch (CPB), Econtrol, and Jumbo Jigger dyeing ranges for woven gabardine fabrics.
- Shade Consistency & Accuracy: Maintain strict control over side-to-center variation (listing), head-to-tail shade variations, and metamerism across bulk dye lots.
- Dye Chemistry & Fixation: Manage dye class selection (Vat, Reactive, Disperse, Sulphur) and recipe optimization tailored to high-density twill and gabardine weaves to achieve high fastness properties (wash, light, rubbing, and perspiration).

2. Lab-to-Bulk Scaling & R&D; Alignment
- Drive seamless lab-to-bulk reproduction by streamlining lab dip approval workflows, CCMR (Computerized Color Matching) systems, and dispensing automation.
- Partner with R&D; and Product Development to establish standardized dye recipes, temperature-time profiles, and chemical dosing routines for new gabardine fabric variants.
- Troubleshoot complex dyeing defects on the shop floor (e.g., streaky dyeing, dye specks, creasing marks, or uneven fixation).

3. Project Execution & Capacity Expansion




- Play a key role in machine evaluation, layout planning, trial runs, and commissioning for new continuous dyeing lines under the Gabardine project expansion.
- Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), machine parameters, and recipe databases for recent product lines.
- Train shift executives and machine operators on machine setup, bath preparation, and recipe execution.

4. Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization
- Maximize First-Time-Right (FTR) dyeing percentage to minimize re-dyes, stripping, and re-handling costs.
- Optimize chemical, dyestuff, water, steam, and electricity consumption per meter of fabric processed to align with sustainability goals and cost targets.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices across the dyeing floor to minimize equipment downtime.

5. EHS, Compliance & Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of shift engineers, colorists, and machine operators, fostering a performance-driven culture.
- Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations, chemical handling standards, Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) norms, and ETP discharge limits.
- Ensure full compliance with international buyer quality standards and green certifications (e.g., OEKO-TEX, ZDHC, REACH, GOTS).

Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. / B.Sc in Textile Chemistry, Textile Processing, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institute (e.g., ICT, DKTE, IIT, VJTI).
- Experience: 12 to 18 years of hands-on experience in woven fabric dyeing (continuous and batch), with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise:

- Mastery over continuous dyeing ranges (Monforts, Benninger, Kusters, Morrison, etc.) and automated color matching systems (DataColor / GretagMacbeth).
- In-depth knowledge of Vat, Reactive, Disperse, and Sulphur dye chemistry for cotton and cotton-blend fabrics.
- Strong expertise in physical & chemical fastness testing norms (ISO, AATCC, ASTM).

- Leadership Skills: Proven track record in shop-floor management, rapid problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration with finishing and QA teams, and team mentorship.
