Senior Automation Engineer - Playwright & TypeScript | Browser Automation

Shift: 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM IST (aligned to US Eastern business hours)

Role Overview

We're looking for a hands-on engineer to build production browser automation using Playwright and TypeScript. This is a development role, not a testing role. You'll build bots that run every day against real web applications, such as payer portals and healthcare systems, and that need to be reliable, secure, and easy to maintain. You'll join our automation team and work alongside our UiPath developers, choosing the right tool for each workflow.

If you've built Playwright or Puppeteer automation for web scraping or data extraction, or you're an SDET who wants to move from testing into building production automation, we'd like to hear from you. US healthcare experience is a plus but not required; we'll teach you the domain.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain production browser automation using Playwright (TypeScript/Node.js) for workflows such as eligibility checks, claim status, and data extraction from web portals.
- Build bots that handle real-world conditions: login and session management, slow or unavailable portals, UI changes, and unexpected data.
- Implement robust error handling, retry logic, and clear exception reporting so failed items are captured and reprocessed rather than lost.
- Build supporting components: job scheduling, work queues, logging, monitoring, and alerting for failed runs.
- Handle credentials and data securely. Use a credential vault, never hardcode secrets, and keep PHI out of logs, screenshots, and traces.




- Integrate automations with APIs, databases, and internal services, and prefer API or EDI integrations over UI automation where they're available.
- Write clean, reusable, well-documented code. Use Git, participate in code reviews, and follow team engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot production failures quickly, and improve the stability of existing bots.
- Work with the Quality Analyst and business teams to understand workflows and validate bot outputs.

Required Skills

- 4+ years of software development or automation engineering experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on Playwright experience; Puppeteer experience is also relevant.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript (Node.js).
- Strong understanding of Playwright fundamentals: locators, auto-waiting, browser contexts, session/storage state, network handling, and tracing.
- Experience building automation that runs in production (bots, scrapers, or data extraction pipelines), not only test suites.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with Git and code reviews.
- Understanding of secure credential handling and sensitive-data practices in automation.
- Solid problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Clear written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

- US Healthcare experience (RCM, payer portals, EMR/EHR systems; eClinicalWorks is a plus).
- Familiarity with UiPath or other RPA platforms.
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
- Understanding of HIPAA and PHI handling.
- Exposure to AI/LLM-based automation or Playwright MCP.
- Selenium or Cypress experience.
