Position: Orthopaedic Physiotherapy In-Charge

Department: Physiotherapy / Rehabilitation Services

Location: Narayana Health City

Reports To: HOD / Head – Physiotherapy / Clinical Head

Level: In-Charge / Senior Level

Job Purpose To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Orthopedic Physiotherapy unit, ensuring delivery of protected, effective and evidence-based physiotherapy services to orthopedic patients. The role involves clinical supervision, team coordination, patient care, quality improvement and coordination with orthopedic consultants and other clinical departments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Responsibilities

- Assess and evaluate patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions and develop appropriate physiotherapy treatment plans.
- Provide physiotherapy interventions including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy, gait training and functional rehabilitation as clinically appropriate.
- Manage post-operative rehabilitation for patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacement, fracture fixation and ligament reconstruction.

1. Team Management & Supervision

- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of physiotherapists and support staff within the Orthopedic Physiotherapy unit.
- Allocate patient workload and ensure optimum utilization of available manpower and resources.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to junior physiotherapists and trainees.
- Conduct regular team meetings and communicate departmental updates, protocols and clinical requirements.

3. Coordination with Clinical Teams

- Coordinate closely with Orthopedic Consultants, nursing teams and other allied health professionals for continuity of patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions for patients requiring comprehensive rehabilitation.
- Ensure timely communication of significant clinical observations and patient progress to the treating team.

4. Quality & Patient Safety

- Ensure compliance with hospital policies,



clinical protocols and physiotherapy standards.
- Maintain appropriate infection control and patient safety practices within the department.
- Monitor clinical documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy of records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and accreditation-related activities.

5. Departmental Operations

- Manage daily departmental operations and ensure smooth patient flow.
- Monitor utilization and availability of physiotherapy equipment and ensure timely reporting of maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate scheduling of physiotherapy sessions based on patient requirements and department capacity.
- Maintain required departmental records, reports and statistics.
- Assist the HOD/Clinical Head in planning manpower, equipment and other departmental requirements.

6. Patient & Caregiver Education

- Counsel patients and caregivers regarding rehabilitation plans, precautions and expected outcomes.
- Promote adherence to prescribed exercise and rehabilitation programs.
- Provide appropriate guidance on mobility, assistive devices and home exercise programs.

7. Training & Development

- Conduct or facilitate clinical training and knowledge-sharing sessions for physiotherapy staff.
- Support induction and orientation of new team members.
- Encourage evidence-based clinical practices and continuous professional development.
- Participate in case discussions, clinical presentations and departmental academic activities.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) from a recognized institution.
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy (MPT), preferably in Orthopaedics / Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, will be an added advantage.
- Valid professional registration, wherever applicable.

Experience

- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in physiotherapy services, preferably with significant experience in Orthopedic / Musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
- Experience in handling post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation and managing a physiotherapy team is preferred.
- Prior experience in a hospital / healthcare setting is desirable

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
