MailerMen is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to build, secure and operate cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and to own the delivery pipelines that move application code into it. The role is deliberately hands-on and self-directed: the person in it runs the cloud environment single-handedly rather than as one member of a larger platform team, so it suits an engineer who is comfortable owning infrastructure decisions from design through to production.

Day-to-day work centres on infrastructure as code with Terraform, which means the cloud environment is defined in version-controlled configuration files rather than assembled by hand in a console, so every change can be reviewed, repeated and rolled back. You will build and maintain continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in GitHub Actions, package applications with Docker so that they behave the same way in every environment, and wire static application security testing (SAST) into those pipelines. SAST scans source code for security flaws before the code is released, which shifts security checks earlier in the delivery process instead of leaving them to a late review.

The platforms involved sit in regulated environments, so the work carries a compliance dimension alongside the engineering.

Experience in healthcare or in banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) is valued here, and healthcare experience is preferred because of the controls that apply to protected health information (PHI), the patient data that must be restricted,



tracked and monitored wherever it is stored or moved.

Experience with log analysis, monitoring and alerting is a useful addition, since the same engineer is usually the one who notices a failure and responds to it. Clear communication matters as well, because the role operates with minimal supervision and is expected to keep stakeholders informed of changes and risks.

Responsibilities

- Build, configure and operate cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Define and manage that infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
- Package and run applications as Docker containers across environments.
- Integrate static application security testing (SAST) into build and release pipelines and act on the findings.
- Run the cloud environment single-handedly, taking ownership of provisioning, changes and day-to-day operations.
- Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting for the infrastructure and services you run.
- Analyse logs to investigate failures, performance problems and security events.
- Apply the infrastructure controls expected in regulated domains such as healthcare and BFSI.




- Support the monitoring and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI) where healthcare data is handled.
- Plan and manage your own workload with minimal or no support.
- Communicate progress, risks and infrastructure changes clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements

- Candidates need 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or cloud infrastructure role.
- Hands-on experience running production workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is required.
- Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Working knowledge of Docker, including building images and running containerised workloads.
- Experience integrating static application security testing (SAST) into delivery pipelines.
- Experience working in regulated domains such as healthcare or banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), with healthcare experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the handling and monitoring of protected health information (PHI) is an advantage.
- Proven experience handling cloud infrastructure independently, without a supporting team.
- Experience with log analysis, monitoring and alerting is positive to have.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote setup.
- Ability to manage your own work independently with minimal or no supervision.
