Hiring: Sr. Buyer - Apparel | Mumbai

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Buyer - Apparel to join our Purchase team in Mumbai.

Core Requirement - Outright Buying Experience

Candidates must have hands-on experience in outright buying/procurement of external brands in the apparel category.

This is the key requirement for the role. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to private-label buying, merchandising, sourcing, or vendor management without outright buying of external brands will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive outright buying of external apparel brands based on business, customer and category requirements.
- Develop and execute buying strategies aligned with sales, margin and inventory objectives.
- Identify and evaluate brands, products, trends and commercial opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing, margins, MOQ, delivery timelines and commercial terms with brand/vendor partners.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with external brands and suppliers.
- Analyse sales, sell-through, inventory,



markdowns and profitability to optimise the assortment.
- Collaborate with merchandising, design, marketing, supply chain and retail teams to ensure timely product availability.
- Use strong quantitative and Excel skills for assortment planning, business analysis and buying decisions.
- Ensure product quality and compliance with company standards.

What We're Looking For

- 8+ years of relevant experience in apparel buying.
- Mandatory: Proven outright buying experience with external brands.
- Strong quantitative and advanced Excel skills.
- Sound technical knowledge of apparel.
- Strong understanding of merchandise selection and vendor/brand management.
- Experience in Baby/Kids Apparel is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
- Experience in managing/leading a team would be an advantage.
- Graduate/PG from a fashion institute or relevant educational background preferred.
