Role SummaryThe Proposal Engineer prepares technically compliant and commercially competitive quotations for industrial valves, actuators and accessories. The role reviews customer requirements, selects suitable products and materials, develops costs and delivery estimates, coordinates internal and supplier inputs, resolves bid clarifications, and supports a clear handover of awarded orders.

Key ResponsibilitiesProposal and Tendering· Review RFQs, material requisitions, valve data sheets, piping specifications, process conditions, drawings, inspection requirements, and commercial terms.

· Select appropriate valve types, sizes, pressure classes, materials, trims, end connections, operators, actuators, and accessories.

· Prepare technical offers, compliance statements, deviations, bills of materials, cost estimates, delivery schedules, and commercial inputs.

· Verify compliance with customer specifications and applicable API, ASME, ISO, MSS, NACE, IEC, and project requirements.

· Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations for valves,



actuators, materials, machining, coating, testing, inspection, and subcontracted services.

· Coordinate with sales, engineering, procurement, quality, production, finance, and logistics to confirm scope, cost, lead time, and risk.

· Respond to technical bid evaluations, customer clarifications, and commercial negotiations within required timelines.

· Maintain quotation registers, cost databases, vendor records, revision control, and complete handover documents for awarded orders.

Technical and Commercial Coordination· Clarify technical requirements with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, end users, suppliers, and internal teams.

· Identify exclusions, deviations, assumptions, technical risks, long-lead items, and commercial exposure before submission.

· Review proposed inspection, testing, certification, documentation, packing, and delivery requirements for cost and feasibility.

· Support value engineering and alternative selections without compromising safety, reliability, or compliance.

· Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, order handover, and lessons-learned activities.

Qualifications and Experience· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

· Typically 3–7 years of experience in proposals, estimation, application engineering, or technical sales within the industrial valve, actuator, piping,



or process-equipment sector.

· Knowledge of valve types, materials, pressure classes, trim selection, end connections, actuation methods, testing, and common service conditions.

· Ability to interpret valve data sheets, piping classes, process conditions, drawings, bills of materials, inspection requirements, and contractual documents.

· Familiarity with applicable API, ASME, ISO, MSS, NACE, IEC, and customer-specific standards.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP or CRM systems; experience with valve-sizing, selection, or CAD software is desirable.

Key Performance Indicators· On-time submission of complete and compliant proposals

· Accuracy of valve selection, costing, margins, and delivery estimates

· Bid conversion rate and response time to clarifications

· Control of deviations, risks, quotation errors, and commercial leakage
