Job Title: Programming Engineer

Location: Boisar, Thane, Mumbai

Qualification:Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

JD The programming engineers will be responsible to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs and machine parameters for sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, ensuring accurate production, optimum machine utilization, reduced cycle time, and consistent product quality. The Programming Engineer is responsible for converting engineering drawings into machine-ready programs while supporting new product development, process improvements, and manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities

1.CNC / Machine Programming:

Create CNC programs for laser cutting, turret punching, bending, and other CNC machines.

Generate programs from approved engineering drawings and CAD models.

Optimize machine programs to reduce cycle time and improve productivity.

Ensure correct tooling selection and machine parameters.

Validate and release production-ready programs.

Maintain program revisions and version control.

2.Troubleshooting & Production Support

Provide real-time support to shop floor for program-related stoppages, alarms, or faults on any equipment.

Debug and correct program errors causing dimensional deviation, rejection, or machine faults.

Coordinate with Maintenance team for issues that are electrical/mechanical vs. programming-related.

Minimize machine downtime attributable to programming issues (target response time for line support).

3.Process Optimization & Cycle Time Improvement

Analyze existing programs to reduce cycle time, tool wear, and machine idle time.

Identify opportunities for program-level improvements to increase OEE of CNC/automated machines.

Standardize programming templates/macros for repetitive part families to reduce programming lead time.

4 New Product / New Part Introduction





Prepare programs for new products/models during NPI (New Product Introduction) trials in coordination with Design & R&D.;

Conduct first-article trials, validate dimensional accuracy, and finalize programs before handover to production.

Prepare/update tool lists, program sheets, and setup sheets for each current part.

5.Documentation & Data Management:

Maintain CNC program database and Prepare setup sheets and work instructions.

Update BOMs and routing information where applicable.

Maintain revision history of programs.

Archive programs as per document control procedures.

Ensure data backup of all machine programs.

6.Quality Assurance

Verify program accuracy before production release.

Support first-off inspections.

Investigate defects caused by programming issues.

Implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring errors.

Coordinate with Quality for process validation.

7.Training & Cross-Functional Coordination

Train CNC operators on basic program handling and offsets

Coordinate with Design for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback on new part drawings.

Liaise with machine OEM/vendors for software upgrades, license renewals, and advanced troubleshooting.

Skills

Strong knowledge of CNC programming and software

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Basic robotics programming

Analytical and troubleshooting mindset for real-time shop floor issues

Working knowledge of ERP systems for drawing and program version control

Preferred Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

6-8 years of experience in CNC programming within the HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing industry.

Experience with laser cutting, CNC punching, or machining operations is preferred.

English, Hindi & Local/Regional Language

Travel Requirements

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
