MailerMen is hiring a Power BI Developer to design, develop and maintain business intelligence solutions for business stakeholders and data teams. Business intelligence (BI) work turns operational data into dashboards and reports that people use to make decisions, so the value of the role lies in getting the underlying data model, the calculations and the refresh process right. You will gather requirements from business users, convert them into interactive dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI, and look after those reports once they are in use.

Much of the work sits in the data layer. You will build optimised data models in Power BI, commonly following star schema or snowflake schema patterns, which organise data into fact tables of measured events and dimension tables that describe them. You will write complex DAX measures and calculated columns, where DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) is the formula language Power BI uses to define calculations over a model, and you will shape source data using Power Query and the M language behind it.

Data will come from several places, including SQL Server, Excel files, APIs, Azure and other cloud platforms, so advanced SQL and practical experience with extract, transform and load (ETL) processes are both required.

You will also be responsible for how reports behave once they are published. That covers publishing and managing content in the Power BI Service, configuring workspaces, apps, gateways, scheduled refreshes and deployment pipelines, and implementing Row-Level Security (RLS)



so that each user sees only the rows they are permitted to see. You will monitor report performance and tune dashboards, DAX and data models where they are slow, troubleshoot data, refresh and report issues, maintain technical documentation, and work alongside business users, data engineers and other technical teams.

Responsibilities

- Connect Power BI to data sources including SQL Server, Excel, APIs, Azure and other cloud platforms.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries and maintain ETL and data transformation processes.
- Implement Power BI security, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Publish, manage and maintain reports and dashboards in the Power BI Service, and configure scheduled refreshes, gateways, workspaces, apps and deployment pipelines.
- Monitor report performance and optimise dashboards, DAX measures and data models.
- Troubleshoot data, refresh, performance and report issues.
- Maintain technical documentation,



follow BI development best practices and collaborate with business users, data engineers and technical teams.

Requirements

- 5–7 years of relevant experience in Power BI or business intelligence development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service.
- Excellent knowledge of DAX, including complex measures and calculated columns.
- Strong experience with Power Query and the M language.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, including star schema and snowflake schema designs.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL Server and the ability to write and optimise complex SQL queries.
- Experience working with multiple data sources and building complex dashboards and interactive visualisations.
- Knowledge of Power BI security, including Row-Level Security (RLS), and of Power BI Gateway, scheduled refresh, workspaces and deployment.
- Good understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts.
- Exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Power Automate, Power Apps, SSIS, SSRS or Python for data analysis is useful, as is a Microsoft Power BI certification such as PL-300.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and stakeholder-management ability.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, statistics or a related field.
