Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Plant Head for our current Semi-Automatic Railway Wagon Spring Factory at Falta, West Bengal, to oversee all manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maximising production efficiency, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and leading a high-performing team.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, deep technical expertise in spring manufacturing and a proven track record of optimising plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational Leadership: Direct all daily plant operations, including production planning, engineering, maintenance, quality control, procurement, stores and dispatch.
- Plant Commissioning: Lead machinery commissioning, production trials and the transition to commercial manufacturing in coordination with equipment suppliers.
- Performance Optimization: Implement and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance productivity.
- Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems, RDSO requirements, and Indian safety, statutory and environmental requirements. Maintain process controls, batch traceability and test records; coordinate approvals, quality assurance plans, audits and inspections with the quality team.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the plant's annual budget, monitoring expenditures, capital investments and cost-saving initiatives, including material utilisation and energy consumption.
- Production and Turnover Targets:



Achieve agreed production and delivery targets and support turnover objectives.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Production or Metallurgical). An MBA in Operations Management is a strong plus.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in manufacturing operations with at least 3 years as a Plant Head, Factory Manager or Senior Operations leader.
- Technical Knowledge: Practical knowledge of spring steel, hot coiling, heat treatment, finishing, engineering drawings, load testing, inspection equipment and applicable RDSO requirements.
- Software Skills: Working knowledge of manufacturing ERP/MRP systems, Excel and production reporting.
- Management Skills: Deep knowledge of budgeting, strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Preferred experience: Commissioning a new plant or expanding production capacity; managing RDSO approvals; and basic process control.
