About the Role

Quinfosys Private Limited is seeking an experienced Photonic Quantum Engineer to contribute to the design, development, characterization, and integration of photonic quantum systems. The role will focus on photonic quantum computing, quantum communication, integrated photonics, optical systems, and quantum hardware, with responsibility for translating technical concepts into experimentally validated and engineered systems. The successful candidate is expected to work independently on assigned technical problems and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across quantum hardware, photonics, electronics, software, and research.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop photonic quantum computing systems and subsystems.
- Develop and characterize optical and photonic quantum circuits.
- Contribute to the architecture and engineering of photonic quantum processors.
- Design, integrate, and characterize photonic components and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
- Work with single-photon sources, photon generation systems, optical components, and single-photon detectors.
- Develop and characterize optical setups for quantum information processing.
- Design and develop quantum communication systems and experimental platforms.
- Contribute to Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and quantum networking systems.
- Work with fiber-optic and free-space quantum communication technologies.
- Perform optical alignment, calibration, measurement, and system characterization.
- Analyze optical losses, noise, interference, stability, and other system-level parameters.
- Develop simulation and modelling methods for photonic quantum systems.
- Integrate photonic, electronic, control, and software subsystems.
- Develop experimental procedures, test methodologies, and system specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, optical, and experimental issues.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and system specifications.
- Evaluate emerging photonic and quantum technologies relevant to ongoing development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and research teams.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and researchers where required.

Educational Qualifications

Essential:

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in:

- Quantum Engineering
- Engineering Physics

or a closely related discipline.

Qualified Experience

Minimum 3 years of relevant qualified experience in one or more of the following:

- Photonics
- Optical engineering
- Quantum technologies
- Quantum optics
- Integrated photonics
- Optical communication
- Quantum communication
- Quantum computing hardware
- Photonic device engineering
- Quantum hardware development





Experience involving research laboratories, R&D; organizations, photonics companies, quantum technology companies, semiconductor organizations, optical communication companies, or advanced technology development environments is desirable.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas will be particularly relevant:

- Photonic quantum hardware development
- Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) design or characterization
- Single-photon sources and detectors

- Optical laboratory experimentation
- Photonic packaging and system integration

Candidate Profile The successful candidate should demonstrate:

· Strong technical fundamentals in photonics, optics, quantum physics, or a closely related engineering discipline.

· At least three years of relevant professional experience.

· Demonstrated experience developing, testing, or characterizing photonic or quantum systems.

· Strong analytical and experimental problem-solving capabilities.

· Ability to independently execute engineering and R&D; activities.

· Ability to troubleshoot complex optical and hardware systems.

· Ability to work across physics, photonics, electronics, and software.

· Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

· Interest in developing and scaling emerging photonic quantum technologies.
