About The Role The OT Security Architect at Lonza is a crucial role responsible for reviewing, assessing, and strengthening the security architecture of both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) solutions. This position involves working across on-premises, cloud, and integrated environments to ensure that security measures are robust, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices. The successful candidate will support project teams during the design and development phases, ensuring security-by-design principles are embedded from the outset while considering the unique operational constraints of OT environments.

The role also emphasizes improving technical documentation practices and promoting secure development principles throughout the entire lifecycle of solutions. This position offers an prospect to work at the intersection of cutting-edge security and operational technology, safeguarding critical systems that support manufacturing and operational processes.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. They should demonstrate thought leadership and a comprehensive understanding of security practices in both IT and OT domains.

Experience in leveraging AI tools for security enhancement is a plus.



The candidate must have strong experience in security architecture design and review, particularly across infrastructure, applications, and integrations. Familiarity with cloud environments, especially Microsoft Azure, and cloud security principles is essential.

Knowledge of security controls for on-premises infrastructure, including system hardening, network segmentation, identity management, and logging, is required. Additionally, experience reviewing integrations and APIs with secure authentication and data protection practices is vital. A solid understanding of application security and secure development principles is also necessary to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive Security Architecture Reviews for new and existing IT and OT solutions, including infrastructure, cloud (Azure), applications, and integrations.
- Assess and validate security controls such as authentication mechanisms, logging, encryption, API security, and secure integration patterns to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Identify potential security risks within solutions and advise on effective mitigation strategies to ensure solutions meet required protection levels before deployment.
- Provide security advisory support to project teams during the design and build phases, ensuring security-by-design principles are integrated into all solutions.
- Review integrations and APIs to confirm secure data exchange, appropriate protection mechanisms, and adherence to best practices for external and internal connections.




- Evaluate operational constraints and risk profiles of OT environments to recommend tailored security measures that balance security and operational efficiency.
- Ensure secure coding practices and application security controls are implemented, including the secure handling of data within applications and services.
- Assist teams in producing clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical architecture documentation, including diagrams and supporting materials.
- Promote and support the adoption of secure development practices across the entire lifecycle of solutions, leveraging tools and automation where appropriate.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate security concepts effectively, ensuring understanding and alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
