NPI Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Mechanical NPI Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to support the introduction of new products from prototype development to mass production. The candidate will work closely with Mechanical Design, R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchase, and suppliers to ensure smooth product launches and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

- Support NPI activities for recent mechanical products and assemblies from prototype to mass production.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design, R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchase, and suppliers for new product development and launch.
- Review 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and engineering specifications for manufacturability.
- Support DFM/DFA activities and identify potential manufacturing and assembly issues.
- Coordinate and support prototype, pilot and trial builds.
- Identify mechanical issues during prototype and pilot production and coordinate their resolution.
- Support development and validation of jigs, fixtures, tooling and assembly processes.
- Prepare and maintain work instructions, process documents and manufacturing documentation.
- Support ECN/ECR and engineering change implementation.
- Coordinate with suppliers for sheet metal, plastic,



die-casting, machining and fabricated components.
- Support dimensional inspection and validation of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Work with Quality teams on root-cause analysis, corrective actions, PFMEA and Control Plan activities.
- Support first-piece inspection and process validation during NPI.
- Monitor production trial issues and ensure timely closure of action items.
- Support improvements in quality, productivity, cost and assembly efficiency.
- Assist in the smooth transition of new products from NPI to regular production.

Required Technical Skills

- Good knowledge of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, die casting, plastic injection molding and welding.
- Good understanding of GD&T;, engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA and assembly processes.
- Basic understanding of PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of BOM and engineering change management.
- Knowledge of manufacturing tools, fixtures and jigs will be an advantage.
- Good MS Excel and documentation skills.
