Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Microbiologist to perform microbiological examinations, culture and sensitivity testing, sample processing, quality control, and laboratory documentation. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and reliable results while maintaining laboratory safety, hygiene, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive, identify, label, and process microbiology specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform routine microbiological investigations on clinical specimens such as blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs, and other samples.
- Perform culture, isolation, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) as applicable.
- Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, stains, and other microbiology materials.
- Perform quality control checks for culture media, reagents, stains, and testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate worksheets, registers, test records, QC records, and other laboratory documentation.
- Maintain proper aseptic techniques and prevent contamination of samples and cultures.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of microbiological and biomedical waste.
- Monitor laboratory stock and maintain adequate availability of media, reagents, consumables, and other supplies.
- Report equipment problems, quality-control issues, contamination,



or other abnormalities to the concerned senior staff.
- Assist in internal audits, external assessments, proficiency testing, and quality-improvement activities.
- Perform other microbiology-related duties assigned by the management or laboratory head.

Requirements

- M.Sc. Microbiology / M.Sc. Medical Microbiology or relevant qualification.
- 0–3 years of experience in a diagnostic laboratory, hospital, or microbiology laboratory.
- Fresher’s with relevant qualifications may also apply, depending on the role requirements.
- Valuable knowledge of clinical microbiology and laboratory procedures.
- Practical knowledge of culture, staining, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Knowledge of laboratory biosafety and biomedical waste management.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain laboratory records.
- Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a busy diagnostic laboratory environment.
