Who we are

PunkRaven is a small, bootstrapped team working on that problem from the ground up. We build self-hosted AI infrastructure for speech and reasoning. Our speech layer transcribes and translates all 22 scheduled Indian languages, so people can ask questions and get answers in the language they actually think in.

Our reasoning layer is built on a simple rule: every claim must come from a real, retrieved source, with a citation you can check. If the sources don't support an answer, the system says so instead of guessing.

We're now bringing that discipline to law, and we need someone who understands law to help us do it right.

The Problem

Most people in India meet the law at the worst possible moment: a dispute with a landlord, a cheated purchase, a visit to a police station. Many of them have no one to ask, and the answers they find online are often wrong, vague, or in a language they don't read comfortably.

The role

This is not a role where you fetch coffee or format someone else's memo. You'll help build the legal foundation our systems stand on. That means sourcing, organising, and annotating judgments, legislation, regulations, and policies, and digging into how legal problems really unfold for ordinary citizens, beyond what the textbooks say.

You'll sit right next to our engineers, and your judgment will decide how our systems read, interpret, and explain the law. On any given day you might be reviewing legal documents, helping shape our terms of use and privacy materials, or turning a tangled legal issue into a clear summary our product and engineering teams can build on. You'll also help make sure what we build stays aligned with legal and compliance requirements, and you'll leave behind documentation and knowledge that the whole team relies on.

What you'll do

Research the law as people live it





- Study how common legal issues actually affect citizens, including the practical walls they hit when dealing with police, courts, and government offices.
- Map the real options people have in everyday situations: where to file a complaint, which authority or forum to approach, and when they genuinely need a lawyer versus when they can handle it themselves.
- Turn statutes, rules, notifications, and judgments into clear, accurate notes that others can trust and build on.

Build the collection

- Source judgments, orders, and case documents from public portals like eCourts, district courts, and tribunals. The ones that are not available easily and needs some digging.
- Keep a clean, well-labelled record of everything you collect, with accurate details such as court, case type, date, parties, and statutes cited.
- Spot what's missing and point us toward where to find it.

Annotate and classify

- Sort documents by area of law, court, matter type, and stage of proceedings.
- Mark up the parts that matter: facts, issues, provisions, arguments, holdings, and outcomes.
- Work with engineers to turn documents into structured, machine-readable data, both by hand and with scripts. We'll train you on every tool you need.
- Check the work for accuracy and consistency, and speak up when something is wrong or unclear.

Shape the product

- Review what our systems produce for legal accuracy, correct citations, and clarity.
- Write realistic legal scenarios and test questions that push the system,



including ones where the right answer is "I don't know."
- Help us figure out how to explain the law so it stays precise but still makes sense to someone who has never opened a bare act.

Who we're looking for

- You're pursuing an LL.B. (3-year or 5-year integrated), ideally in your 3rd year or beyond, or you've recently graduated.
- You have a solid grip on Indian legal fundamentals, including the new criminal codes (BNS, BNSS, BSA), constitutional law, and core civil and consumer law.
- You enjoy research and are comfortable taking a long judgment apart.
- You're careful and patient, the kind of person who notices the wrong date on page 43.
- You write clearly in English. Hindi or another Indian language is a real plus.
- You care about legal technology and about making justice more reachable.
- You don't need to know how to code. If you're comfortable with spreadsheets and curious about learning simple scripts, you'll do outstanding.
